I have tried it and occasionally still do. I purchased a bobby grace switch hitter. My experience is that when I putt left handed (I'm a righty), my speeds are better and lines on short putts are better, but my lines on long putts aren't. I think it would benefit me for the switch hitter to be heavier.

I feel like the cross hand is effective I just can't do it from my natural side (right) but thought lefty might be easier for me

That was my feelings exactly. I Cant cross hand from the right side, but do from the left. I just keep my natural and traditional right hand grip. Again, I believe I could totally commit if I found the correct putter.

I’m a natural righty.

I went thru the yips about 14 yrs back. I tried crosshand, not much better.

Finally it got so bad I went to lefty. My lefty stroke is smooth, albeit a little mechanical. I have to use a line on my ball...I don’t naturally see the line I want the ball on. But it saved my game. I now consider putting the. Most consistent part of my game.

I’m a right hander, left hand low, who went through a 3+ year battle with the yips. Couldn’t take the putter back, double hits, the whole mess. Started hitting short ones with the back of the putter just to get it in the hole. People commented on how much better my stroke looked. Bought a left handed putter and I’ve never looked back. Didn’t switch my grip so I suppose that I actually use a standard grip now.

Absolutely game changing. Line, speed, confidence all better. Probably the best part of my game these days.

Definitely worth trying, but I’d suggest committing to one side or the other. I know a couple of people who go back and forth and they’re not very good from either side.

Hockey player here before I took up golf so I swing lefty but am right hand dominant. Have always putted traditionally with a reverse overlap. My home course got a big moss green in the pro shop recently and with only right handed putters I grabbed one and used my regular grip so left hand low and drained 4 in a row from 10 feet with their demo.

With winter blues and no golf for the next few months the inner putter ho is stirring. Have a lefty spider on the way and I'm seriously contemplating trying something in righty

Right handed player, switched to crosse handed lefty putting because of yips. I am left eye dominate and feel putting left handed has helped me see the line better while addressing the ball. Have not felt yippy putting left handed at all. Rolling the ball smoother and making short putts at a higher percentage.

One of the guys in my regular foursome plays right, putts left. Like others, he did it out of desperation from the yips, and it's worked well for him.

I think those that have been afflicted with a case of the yips (not just bad putting or a bad streak of putting, but a full blown case of the yips) reach a point where they know almost to a certainty that they have to do something new, or they have to stop playing; the scar tissue becomes too thick to overcome. Putting LH is one way to do that.

I do it for fun sometimes. Putting is a strength (left hand low) so I would never fully switch, but my lefty stroke is really good and putts go in. I don’t have much expectation when I do it so the stress of puttingjust isn’t there. Its amazing how well you can putt when you aren’t worried about missing. Notah Begay notoriously switched between righty and lefty depending on the break (righty on right to left). If a guy is willing to go with it on Tour I don’t see why giving it a shot would be crazy.

I putt left hand low (right handed played) and have for a better part of 24 years. I cannot for the life of me putt "regular" any longer. If I use dad's old Bullseye, I keep left hand low which is correct for a lefty (and putt left handed), feels normal and rolls great. Never been tempted to play a round putting lefty much less the Bullseye.

I can do it well. In fact with a non flange bullseye I’ve putted both ways in same round and not 3 putted. I actually see the line left handed better . Problem comes with any offset. The bullseye or a center shaft. is all that fits my eyes lefty. If it works. Do it.

Sometimes you got to do what you got to do. One of the best golfers in my area growing up was LH but always struggled on the greens. I know he spent some time putting right handed but never really committed to it. Other then that though every golfer I’ve seen putt opposite of the side he plays on has been a total hack. I understand if you have the yips. Trust me I got the yips playing baseball and it’s the worst feeling in the world. So if you have the yips and going to lefty prevents that then you have to do it. If you’re just a bad putter though I’m not sure it would help over the long haul. Sure you may make some putts in the beginning because the pressures off, it’s basically the same way a lot of people are when they get a new putter. You make everything you look at for a round but then it goes in the tank once the expectations are there. Bottom line, switching sides once you get to the greens won’t help you long term unless you have the yips IMO.

Definitely give it a try! I'm a natural RH, but always played hockey left handed. Developed the yips almost 20 years ago. Claw helped a lot but I didn't like the feel and felt like I pushed a lot of putts. Tried left handed and it was almost miraculous - shorter, more compact, smooth, completely yip-free stroke with much better feel. I takes some practice - esp for distance - but I can still see the line well (I'm left eye dominant). Once you really have the yips, there is no cure, contrary to the advice-giving gurus out there that have never had them. It's a disruption of the motor planning/execution pathway in the brain. FYI - I found that the yip/flip is in my right hand. I putted for awhile just holding the putter with my lead/left hand - no yips. But you don't have nearly the control with one hand as with two. Good luck.
