Saturday tee time was 41 degrees, whiched seem tropical, with a light drizzle starting out.

Birdied three of the first four holes, thought it would be a great day. Immediately went double / double due to chunking three chips off of somewhat muddy lies. Shot 77.

We will play down into freezingtempif the course is open with no frost. We draw the line if there is wind or rain however.

It does influence the speed of play though! Nobody wants to stand around long!

34 Celsius yesterday, biggest problem was sunburn.

I'd rather play in 34F than 34C!

34c is definitely not fun. I once played at 30c and that was brutal. Thankfully temperatures in the UK don't often go much above 25. They don't go below zero during the day all that often either, least-wise not in the southern half.

Played yesterday here near Detroit. Started in mid thirties, temp rose to about 41F by mid afternoon.

Tee boxes pretty frozen, greens as well. A little bit of ice ponds in some fairways.

All in all, our foursome enjoyed the heck out of it.

i grew up in pittsburgh, pa, so Ive played plenty of golf in cold weather with frozen ground. actually, it was pretty rare to play this time of year because even if it got to 41, the ground would be covered in snow

i moved south to charlotte but it can still get cold here

when the ground freezes solid, i put a hammer and nail in the bag to create a pilot hole for the tee

i get some laughs from the others, but when they cant get their tee in the ground, i get the last laugh

anyone else bring a nail and hammer for these conditions? I cant be the first person, right?

Played this past Saturday and Sunday in SW Ontario. 3 degrees Celsius up here / ~37 fahrenheit. No wind (thank god)

Ended up shooting my best round of the year yesterday. 5 over 77. Playing 7000 yards from the back tees. Greens were punched and sanded but got used to them from playing on Saturday, so putts started dropping yesterday and had 3 birdies with a handful of tap in pars. The best season finisher I could ever ask for

Ponds were frozen solid with plenty of balls sitting on top lol

Played yesterday with my 10yr old son in the rain and 50*. We managed through 14 holes until we were too cold and wet. Both of us played really well, focused as we were only out there to play well. Greens were slow and ball was going no where. Only goal was to make GIRs, flags were irrelevant. I was -3 through #14 and my son was +3. We both had a lot of fun.

Gotta love bonus golf!

I hadn’t played since August, but joined up with another member here to play the Illinois State University course yesterday. It was gorgeous, mid-40s with a mild wind, perfect day to walk, if not a bit too muddy.

For such a long layoff, I played pretty decent. No birdies, but just 2 doubles, shot 85. 64% FW and 29 putts is good for me, but 17% GIR shows where the rust is.

Should get back out on Wednesday, as it’s up in the 40s again. Probably switch it up, drop the bag down to 8 clubs.

Got out for 18 this past Sunday, course was a bit wet, but all the snow was gone. Took me and my pal 6 hours to walk 18..... 2 30 year old guys. It was ridiculous, I basically would guess I waited 10 minutes between each of my shots, couldn't get into any kind of rhythm. Definitely gonna be playing a lot more solo next year or more with my dad who as a 63 year old cancer survivor gets around the course a lot quicker than my buddy who needs to line up every shot and putt like he's on Tour ffs. Sorry to rant hahaha I think I shot high 90s never got to see the scorecard. Terrible.

(btw the course was practically empty, we let a 3some pass us at the 6th tee, I would guess they teed off on 1 as we were finishing the 3rd)

Baltimore. 3-some. Played yesterday. 26 degrees F. Greens recently top dressed with sand. 53/47. Tee shots fair, hybrids good. Irons very good. Pitches/chips couldn't get distance right since the ground was pretty hard, had better luck putting anything within 10 yards of the green. Putting decent considering the greens. First group of the day at 7:30. Fun day. 3.5 hrs.

Ever consider playing lower compression or womens balls in the winter so you can maintain normal yardages. I used to hate playing in the cold (just relocated from NOVA) dont have to worry about that now out in AZ

Played 18 Wednesday. 45 and sunny, felt great. Walking only, which I actually prefer when it's colder out. The fairaways were soft and the greens were frozen about a 1/2 inch below the surface so most approach shots were rejected like they landed on the cart path lol. Tough to score but still fun and good exercise.

9c this morning, sunny for the most part and quite pleasant. Ground was damp and soft though. Still can't complain at getting out on such a day today. Overall I had a reasonable round. Was really just there to practice my swing and maybe experiment a bit. For the most part it went well but my fade came back a couple of times and I'm still generally push/fade biased. Think I'll have to go back to the pro to find out why in the new year.

Not sure of the score because toward the end of the round I was definitely experimenting, trying to get a few pushes and draws and lost a couple of balls. Sadly it seems I either go a bit right or a lot left :-/ Also need to work on hitting lower on the driver face to reduce launch angle.

Anyway it was fun and a pleasant day out with my mate.

Our course was drenched after heavy overnight rain so went to the practice range and worked on mid irons and pitching. Little or no breeze and as 9 degrees just two layers needed. Doing the same after lunch. A decent practice session is more beneficial than tramping through clarty fairways and clinging rough.
