I've posted this a few times, but it always gets lost in the shuffle. I figured I would share how we set up the M2 and M4 Taylormade drivers to get the best performance out of the heads.

First off we suggest you drop .75-1 degree of ACTUAL loft on the face. Easy to do with hand picked Tour heads. With retail this is pointless because of production tolerances which leave with no real idea what the exact loft on the face is, or what the next driver will be. Then instead of loading the head up with hot melt or some guys use lead tape, we like to put the heaviest back weight possible to get swing weight where the player wants it. This will increase launch and spin, but dropping the degree of loft will neutralize those, and give you the launch and spin you are used to, with higher ball speeds and higher MOI for more forgiveness.

This has me intrigued about an m4.

It's the exact way I play my M2. 44.5 inches, D1.5, 3 grams of melt for sound and the rest in a 12 gram back weight, at just under 7 degrees of true loft, slightly open, but not much. The set up is awesome. It's the same way I set up my M4 in the test for direct comparison.

Just under 7* of true loft...? Where on this planet can I find that in a M3 or M4??

We do ACTUALLY have one at 6.7 loft in M4. The next lowest is 7.6 I think.

That’s what I’m talking about! That’s a full half degree lower than what I have... mine has about as high a CT as I can find and once I can test out what my launch looks like with the PO I have I’ll decide what to do. But that 6.7 is mighty tempting!

105 is as low as we test. It's the lowest speed of anyone we employ as a dedicated tester. The slower speeds just aren't needed, because OEM's get plenty of 95 and under speed data from their demo days. I would do it if I could, but we just don't have anyone on staff at that speed.

105/110 data still coming?

Thanks

Yes. The customer appreciation sale is taking all hands. 63 custom drivers sold in 11 days! I'll be back on it later today.

No excuses! Post like a champion! :D

haha. Yes, the boss even said something similar about 15 min ago. Something to the affect of "get your nose out of those build sheets and get that head data up. You're keeping potential customers from ordering drivers." haha. From all sides man, from all sides.

Seriously though, data on the way. It will be up in the next 10 min for 110mph.

M4 is king. Would love to see the dispersion data in these datasets

At certain speeds, certain drivers shine more than others. The 16 line is still great, but the 17 line just doesn't hold up to the 16 or 18 lineup. As for dispersion, the M4 is the clear winner that regard. The M1 and M3 are very similar with a very slight edge going to twist face, but in the higher MOI head, the M4 is pretty soundly more accurate overall.

Here is the 105mph Data. You'll see that with the M1/M3 that the spin rates get very low and things really tighten up in terms of launch and spin differences. You see much more difference at higher speeds with this lineup. The M2/M4 continue to show pretty similar results to all swing speeds.

And as a final reminder, if you like these kinds of threads and want to see us do more of them, please consider us for your next purchase. Sales through this website help to allow us to do these types of threads for you. Below is the link to our M3 and M4 Tour drivers.

I’ve been surprised at how well the M4 does in regards to Ball Speed. It’s not always the highest but in multiple testers it’s right there with the M1 or higher

I think, overall, it's the best of the entire M line so far in regards to the combo of forgiveness and ball speed. If M4 had followed M2 2016 immediately, then I think the only real benefit would have been the overall forgiveness with a slight increase in launch angle, however coming from the 2017 line, the jump is substantial in every way. I've said many times, anyone playing the 17 lineup can benefit greatly by moving to M3 or M4.

I've really enjoyed my 2017 M1 for a couple seasons, but it was never really good for a completely uncorked drive. The M3 is pretty solid so far but I think the M4 might be the best of both worlds, especially for a little bit more MOI.

2016 M2 8.5 Tour Issue head is the best I've ever hit hands down

Same driver I currently play. As I've said before, M4 is more forgiving and damn close on ball speed, but I don't really mishit the driver much and I feel so comfortable with it that I'm not switching. That 8.5 16 head is going to go down as legend. It's the reason the Tour went back to BOTH cannon and CT testing on Tour issue heads.

What is most interesting is how consistently the 2017 M2 is colder than everything else. What do you think that could be attributed to in this case? Something with the face?
