Forest Dunes - The Loop - Allowing carts in 2019

Gents,

 

Just got word today that the Loop will be allowing carts in 2019.

 

This is fantastic news and I’m sure this will get a lot more people to play it.

 

Reality is the vast majority of people just don’t want to walk these days.

 

I Think it’s a great business move and it will def get me up there s few more times next summer

That’s horrible news. Hope the carts don’t ruin the fescue. It was such a great experience walking the course with the pushcarts.

I'd love to walk the course and would but my right knee says otherwise.

 

Why any business would prevent half of their customer base from enjoying their product is beyond me.

clearly allowing carts because they werent getting the number of rounds they expected.

 

totally fine with people playing in a cart if they desire. agreed hopefully they can make sure it doesnt hurt the fescue

 

HOWEVER, its absolute bull crap they dont have a different rate if you would like to still walk the course.

 

i also have always had an issue with their replay rates. all major resorts that want people to stay and play typically offer a replay rate of 50% off. Arcadia does, Bandon does, SV does, i could go on... FD its $30 off the regular rate, so generous lol

That's a shame. We plan to play it next summer and we will most certainly walk it. I understand why they are doing it, but its really a sad commentary on how reliant people have become on carts.

I am happy about decision. Not for me personally, because I enjoy walking, but for my group outings which really require we play courses with carts for some of the guys and the fact that we play 36 a day.

 

Forrest Dunes doesnt get enough out-of-state play to support a walking only course like a Bandon or Streamsong. The Loop is also not good enough to support it as wel. It’s a fun course, but it’s not even the best course on the property.

I happened to be out there at the tail end of this season and they put us out there with carts for our first round (walked the second round). I tried it because I wanted to see if it changed my perspective of the place. I certainly prefer it walking and would encourage anyone to do it that way. There are also some fairly dangerous spots if someone were to get going down the fairway and didnt know the course well enough to expect a bunker that you might not see coming from one direction.
