MEMBER REVIEWS: Aldila X-Torsion Copper Shafts.

I am in Love with the Ping G400 STD 10.5 and Copperhead 60S combo. i had purchased 2 x G400 10.5* with Ping Tour 65S and Aldila Copperhead 60S to see which will fit for my game. Aldila Copper Head comes out on top!!!

Most of my previous driver shaft has been with Tour AD BB6, GP6, Aldila Rogue 60/120s. the copper head is by far the best shaft i have owned in the past 5 years.

here is my non-scientific review and differences between the Ping Tour and Copper head.

Ping Tour 65 Shaft:

  • Butt section: Medium
  • Mid Section: Firm
  • Tip Section: Firm
  • Launch: Low-Mid
  • Feel: light shaft, and feels extremely firm in the mid section during the down swing.
  • Typical miss: Right (i guess i am having trouble flexing)

Copper Head 60S:

  • Butt section: Firm+ and Heavy
  • Mid Section: Firm
  • Tip Section: Medium
  • Launch: Mid-High
  • Feel: butt end heavy shaft, and balanced throughout the swing. (for most player may NOT feel the driver head in the downswing) [ Specs: D3 swing Weight]
  • Typical miss: N/A (the ball just wants to go straight)

Specs on the clubs:

this is my first review and may not be on par and/ or as knowledgeable as most frequent posters on the WRX. however, i am here to learn.

your comments are welcome.

Bumping this topic as I have a quick question:

If I’m not mistaken, there is an X (extra stiff) version AND a TX (tour extra stiff) version of this shaft. Is that correct?

The Aldila website appears to indicate this, just want to make sure I don’t make another silly mistake.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, absolutely. And from everything I've heard, it makes all the difference - the materials are higher quality, the tip is stiffer, and it's really a different shaft. It's the best I've ever played, and I would love to get a Green 70 TX for my 3 wood. A friend has that shaft in his Callaway driver, and I was smoking it!

EDIT: The website only lists a 70 TX, but you can be assured that they made the TX in 60, 70, and 80. If you really want one, get in touch with Toll Bros.

And I have a green Mamba 70tx test shaft for a big discount if you're interested. ;)

And yes we can get Copper, Green, and Black Mamba in 60 and 70TX.
