Taylormade P760 (Pics Added)

Have hit the irons a couple times now. The thing I like the most is the improved leading edge. The turf interaction is great especially for someone who plays on firm fairways like myself and like a thinner sole. Definitely going to have a great chance of knocking my P770s out of the bag come spring. I didn't see any gapping issues with the middle irons with the added speed foam either.

I'm really interested to hit them regarding the improved turf interaction!!!

The leading edge grind in these clubs is exceptional! Not something that most people notice. This alone makes a big difference than most of all of the previous models over the past decade+.

In the bag: Playing --- TaylorMade  STEALTH 2 Plus 8.0 driver w/Fujikura Ventus Blue 6S. 3wd TM (OG) SIM (special smaller tour only head, same that TW was playing prior to the '24 Genesis approx 160cc) @ 15.*) with Fujikura Ventus 7-S.  5 wd TM SIM w/Fujikura Speeder 857TR-S (Japan made)

Call me crazy, but I feel like irons shouldn't be allowed to be hollow.

And I feel like shafts shouldn't be allowed to be metal

and metal shafts shouldn't be allowed to be graphite

and the wooden ball shouldn't be allowed to be made of leather

and leather balls shouldn't be allowed to be made of rubber

and rubber balls shouldn't be allowed to be made of urethane

I love a killed leading edge. This grind is not unlike the Nike Vapor Pro Combo (also a cavity in the 3-7 irons filled with elastomer, only Nike called their RZN) or the dulled edge of the Bridgestone J15CB, one of the best CB designs ever. The dulled edge is so helpful if you get a little steep on a swing and it does not reduce stopping power at all. I pretty much look for it on any iron I play and I have even had the leading edge ground on wedges and loved that too.

Hit these yesterday for the first time. I actually really liked them and thought they looked pretty good in person. May have to watch for a good deal on a used set w c tapers this winter.

Yeah. I agree. I haven’t actually hit them, but I saw them in the shop recently. I REALLY like the overall shape of the head, the top line, the progressive offset, preworn leading edge. They just set up nice to my eye.

I liked everything about them except those hideous lines in the cavity. I wonder if I could fill them with bondo and then paint the cavity? Hummm.

When I am playing with my P760s (two months in now) I can't see the cavity. You must have an exceptionally different swing . . . :stink: .

Haha. Yes. If they work, they work.

I would only need to vomit a little bit in my mouth every time I put them in or take them out of my bag.

Standing over the ball they are quite nice,

Any reviews/opinions of the 3 iron? Just got a set of Honma 737v's coming in, and I'm thinking of getting the 760 3 iron to finish out the set

FWIW Played it today in place of my set 3 iron (MP18SC). Was hoping for a strong 3 that was between my 3 iron and 790UDI/5wood. Reshafted with ProModus125X at standard length. Nice draws but not much further than my MP. Maybe +5/10yrds on a good hit. Feels very good but not as much benefit as I was expecting. Was going to test the 3 some more but I said hell with it and I just bent it to 17 degrees and will test it tomorrow as more of a 2 iron/DI.

Hope the info is helpful.

Any thoughts on the 3 and 4 iron in these? Debating if I want to go 4-pw 760s or grab a 790 4i and 760 5-Pw

Currently playing iblades no issue with the 4 iron in that.

I currently play the 770's and tried the 790 4 iron to replace the 770 4 iron thinking it would better fill the gap between the 5 iron and my hybrid. I found the 790 4 iron to be very inconsistent with some low spinner fliers from time to time.

Thinking I will order 4-PW in the 760's.

So I caved, I had to. These irons have been calling my name from the moment I tried them outside, everything about them is exactly what I like to see. Now I have to figure out a way to share time with them along side my 785’s (which I absolutely love as well)

Ordered 5-PW

Modus 120’s

MCC +4 Align (First time trying the align grip as well)

Tried to call TM and see if I could make a last minute adjustment and get them .5 degrees flat as I didn’t realize how upright they are and to my SURPRISE, they’re ALREADY in production, which never happens with TM. So I guess I can’t complain, I’ll just take them into Carl’s when they get delivered. Delivery date is scheduled for Jan 10th which is ANOTHER big surprise. Usually TM takes anywhere from 3 months to 4 years to deliver a custom order. Hopefully no hiccups along the way.

Will do.

One other concern I’m having is something tells me I should have gone with the Project X Rifles, both shafts perform well for me and my miss is left, so hopefully the Modus won’t contribute to that, they tend to in my Srixon’s. Worst care scenario I’ll get them reshafted.

Modus are a little less stout in the tip than most shafts of equal flex and weight and could contribute to the "lefts", but before you go switching shafts, try lowering the lie a touch. TM irons are about 1.5* upright compared to "traditional specs". I over drew and hooked the crap out of my 790's. I did have a lesson which I'm positive helped... but I also got irons 1.5* flatter and my hooking days are behind me. Played on Monday and all my irons flew straight as an arrow, albeit my miss was a push. Didn't over draw any of my irons which was a change.

Probably going to cave and try to find a used set sometime this year even though I love my Miuras. Going to have them bent 1.5* flat straight away.

Yeah, I didn't pay attention to how upright the 760's are when I ordered them. I can bend them, but wish I had them built properly.

Oh yes absolutely will be the first thing I plan on doing! I noticed that they’re a little more upright than usual with the 7 iron measuring in at 62.5, will probably have it bent flat by 1 degree at first and go from there. Thanks!

I ended up getting a set 4-9 with Project X 6.0. They will see the course for the first time today.... I will say I got the lofts checked yesterday and the 8 iron was 1 degree off and the 9 was 2.5 degrees off.....

I had my first round with them today and I will agree with everyone that they look a lot better in person. I will echo also that this are great feeling and looking irons, they are soft and compact but not too little. Coming from MODUS shafts It took me a few holes to get used to the shafts but after that I fell in love with them. On hole #3 I had 180 into the wind and hit a punch low 5 iron that drew back to the hole and hit the flag stick. I made birdie and it was the hardest hole on the course, my friend was like...let me hit those. He hit the 5 irons and flushed it to about 12 feet, high and sat like he hit a 8 iron.

I didn't find that there was any huge gap issues between the "speed foam" and the "non-speed foam" irons. The one thing that I did see was they fly high and they go! They were as soft as any mizuno or Srixon that I have hit and the leading edge makes them very easy to hit and rough turf interaction was awesome.

I was able to put a decent round together of 75 and it wasn't due to the irons, couple of missed drives. Next round is Sunday...will report back.

So, had my second round with my P760s and they amaze me each time; the forgiveness was tested this round. It was not a good ball striking day with the irons or the driver but I managed to still hit GIRs. Huge reason, the leading edge, it allowed me to get through the rough and get down after it. The irons are forgiving, trust me! Today wasn't a great day and my misses to the left/right of the green, just short and because of that I was able to putt and save par.

Two rounds and scores have been: 75 and 76. Cant wait to have a great striking day, could beat my all time low....standy by!

I hit these today. I really liked them. They look really good in person. Nice compact shape. Loving the pre worn leading edge like Titleist. They feel much better than my TMB. These may be the top of my list this spring.

I am embarrassed for TM for even saying how bad my 3-pw custom order specs were. I ordered 1* flat, STD loft. the 8-pw lofts were good, but they were std lie to .5* upright. the 4 -7 were 1* upright ( so, 2* upright than I ordered) and 2* weak from tm std, the 3 iron was ridiculous!! it was 2* upright and 5* weak!!!

the 790udi 2 iron, also ordered at 1* flat, was std le and 2 weak.
