It looks like there is a Golf Ect in Frederick Maryland but I read a review that would make me not want to deal with them.

Thanks for the suggestion
reviews are too subjective, gotta experience first hand.

I found a dealer in Virginia so I'll take Miura irons for a spin and see if the juice is worth the squeeze. I have played Mizuno irons for years so they better feel twice as good because they
seem to be twice the price or more.
Good luck with that :) They are nice clubs, beauties to look at, and well made with tight specs and a unique feel, but they are much like owning a high end putter vs. a custom fit Ping or Odyssey, you are paying for a luxury item. I am not opposed to that sort of thing, I own a Miura wedge and it is nice, but a Vokey or a Mizuno gets the job done too.
This is a fantastic point. It amazes me how people can get to worshipping a club, like with Miura.

Don't get me wrong - I love Miura's stuff and would very much like to own a set of baby blades - but I don't believe the difference in price between Miura and something like.. say.. Mizuno, is anywhere near justified. They are absolutely a luxury item, albeit an excellent-quality luxury item.

Also, I'm interested that Jack plays them. Hmm.. wonder if if the Nicklaus name won't start to become associated more with Miura going forward?

What are the woods he's playing? And putter?
Nicklaus woods and a Nicklaus putter. Caddy wouldn't take the head covers off for me.

I'll ask again..... Does anyone reccomend a dealer for Miura?

Not having a dealer very close, I purchased a set online from David Dugally at Miura Golf Coast in October and the service was excellant.

Apparently, Jack toured Miura in October... and took his JNP's along for them to look at... pics here:

https://www.facebook.com/fairwaygolf/posts/10152542102664234

Miura was bought out last year, no? Did Jack buy them or was he an investor?

- Something that continues to go long off the tee in the fairway
- Something that is a fairway finder when needed and long
- Something that high, consistent and helps with par 5’s
-  Something to help with long par3’s and short par 4’s

-  Something metal, lots of them and go the gaps I need
- Something metal, 2x of them and helps me 120y and in
- Putters - limited rotation because I cannot afford misses

I also bet it's strange for Jack looking down at an iron that doesn't have diamonds on the face.

I've tried to play other irons but I always find myself longing for a club that looks like the VIP / Muirfield variants. Those diamonds on the faces help me line up and help frame the ball in a way that helps me hit it more solidly.

How cool would it be if Miura took a set and put diamonds on the faces??!! I would pay at least a couple grand for set of those puppies!!

I inquired of Scratch whether they could make a set of custom heads with diamonds on the faces..... as if their custom Don White irons weren't already expensive enough, I was told that yes, they could do it, but it would cost $10,000 for a set of 8 heads. I wasn't even tempted on that!!

I would be very surprised if Miura doesn't introduce a model with Jack's name on it...they made irons for MacGregor in the 90's, the PCB Tour was their model 301, which they still make. Jack played an iron in the early 90's called the JNP which was a forged cavity back, a bit longer heel to toe, and had a lower cg to help hit the ball higher with a touch of forgiveness...all while maintaining a classic blade profile. He played some of his very best golf with those irons, winning three of four senior majors in 1991 as well as almost winning the Masters twice. Jack was a great iron player and those clubs had restored his iron game back to a very competitive level...I would say a 90-95% solution. He wasn't as long off the tee as he once was but his iron play made him competitive again in the bigger tournaments...along with renewed confidence from winning multiple majors on the senior tour.

Unfortunately when he left MacGregor in 1993 he did not continue to play those irons, he went back to a blade and that was that. The difference was noticeable...he shot 28 under par to win the senior players championship in 1991--destroying Lee Trevino in the process, and hit a three iron 230+ yards over water to three feet for an eagle on 18 the next year to get in a playoff, causing Roger Maltbie to just about fall out of the tower while broadcasting it.

Miura's are gorgeous irons, but priced at a level few of us can enjoy...I would love a set of the 1957s, but they are way beyond my reach. I'll have to settle for something a little less elite myself.

VIP-

These Miuras remain very nice, and they also remain RH Only....

"...he shot 28 under par to win the senior players championship in 1991--destroying Lee Trevino in the process."

?

Nicklaus won the 1990 Senior Tour Players Championship at Dearborn CC, the year before it went to the TPC of Michigan in 1991.

Trevino won the 1990 US Senior Open at Ridgewood NJ, the first time either was eligible. Nicklaus won the US Senior Open at Oakland Hills in 1991, besting Juan "Chi Chi" Rodriguez in a playoff.
