In the winter, I will have a shot before the round to warm me up. While playing, yes and no depends on the company. 19th Hole - almost always.

Always have a few during rounds these days. The game, for me, changed from a sport with a devoted pursuit of improvement to a leisure activity when my second kid came and my rounds and practice time plummeted.

I'll tell you that since those days, the rare times I get out are more enjoyable than when I played a ton. I used to walk off the course miserable that I shot a 77 and these days I'm happy to get out, have a few beers, aim to break 100 and pray I shoot in the 80s :)

Only after for me, drinking kills my game

I usually only play leagues and tournaments so we drink a beer before and a couple during a league match. I don’t drink during a tournament round unless I’m playing horribly and then it is more just to enjoy the rest of the round. Post tournament rounds usually involve a beer over lunch and telling stories from the day.

I grew up in Utah and when I was a bit younger I had a horrible anxiety problem on the first tee. To combat this I would usually get 2 beers and slowly drink them while warming up for tournaments. There is nothing funnier than walking into a Utah golf course snack bar and seeing the old lady’s face when you order 2 beers at 7:00am before a Sunday tournament. Priceless.

depends on who I'm playing with at the time. At work-associated tournaments i may have one drink the whole day. If i'm playing with some of my more serious friends we might not drink at all. My other golf buddies we might be shotgunning beers after the 3rd hole. In general i do like having a beer or cocktail during and after a round but I don't like getting to the point where I'm buzzed or worse.

I don’t drink and golf. Maybe after the round, but more than likely I do that at home not in the clubhouse.

After the round I'll have a beer/beverage with the group. It is proper golf etiquette to do so.

I never consume alcohol during my round as even one half a cold one brings down my game.

Now on the other hand I do occasionally consume another relaxation item while playing.

That substance does not interfere with my golfing ability one bit. But there wasn't a box for it in the Poll.

Before, during and after for me. My normal routine is have a couple at home starting two hours before the round. Get to the course 45min prior to tee time, go to clubhouse and change into shoes, etc. Grab a cold one and go to the range. Hit 2 sand wedges, 2 pws, 2 8i, 2 6i, 2 4i, 2 2i, 2 3wd, and 4 drivers. Then head back to clubhouse and get a refill. Stroke a few putts, head to the chipping green and knock a few bump and runs out there. Maybe a flop or two. Head to the half way house and grab a a four pack and a bag of ice for the front. Another 4 pack on the back. A few in the clubhouse afterwards and a drive home from a friend and do it all over again the next day. I honestly don’t know how people play without drinking. Just something I haven’t done in 15 years now.

I like to gradually work my way up (~1-2 drinks per hole) until I have difficulty walking straight (usually happens around the 12th hole).

The game becomes particularly challenging at this point. But I've learned that if you can learn to play decently under these conditions, playing sober is a breeze.

It's like putting into one of those really small holes or swinging with a weighted club. Once you go back to normal, it just feels really easy. Gives you a huge boost of confidence.

Also drunk golf does wonders for your handicap. Just show up for the club tournament and play sober. Voila. Club champion in the net section 5 years running.

Never drank on the court all the years I played pickup basketball, never drink at work, never drank coaching soccer or Little League, never drink while hunting, always viewed golf as something I don't need alcohol to enjoy and not to interfere with like work or other sports. That's just me.

19th hole a good place for an occasional beer with friends.

have tried to drink while playing (keeping up with playing buddies) i have learned i can have 2 on front & 2 on back and i will play ok, anymore than that and the wheels fall off & start doing silly shots like stepping up to a 180m shot from deep rough with a 58* LW (and thinking i have the ability to make that actually work).

so for 2019 i have decided to limit my brewskies on the course, after 18 thats a different ball game.
