Teed off on a short par 4 (driveable). First 2/3-3/4 of the hole was a straight fairway, pond to the right. Then the fairway drops straight down hill to a hidden green kind of tucked beyond/behind the pond. I'm aiming to land it on the downslope to the left of the green and let it run down and right towards the green and hope for the best. I hit what was essentially a slice, thought I may have actually just hit into the pond. Was actually frustrated and kind of plopped by club on the ground while it was in the air. No idea how it got there, but we drive down and once we get to the crest where it starts to drop, we see my ball about 2 foot from the hole. Don't know if it took some crazy bounce off of rocks around the pond or if it just landed on the backside of the hill and went left, or what. Tap in eagle.

I've also tried to hit a wedge over a tree on an approach, bladed it through the middle of the tree, and somehow ended up running it up the front of the green to a few inches for a tap in birdie.

I'll take all the luck I can get.

High school tournament and was on the top tier of a 3 tier green with the pin on the lowest tier. Tough putt to judge the speed going down, up, down up and then down. Thought I hit the putt perfectly and as it was traversing the second tier, it decelerated dramatically and I realized it was not going to make it to the lowest tier. In disgust, I put my head down and started walking toward the hole. About 5 second later, the 3 other players started cheering as unbeknownst to me, the ball started to roll again and found the bottom of the cup.

One of the guys said "Man you knew that was going in you started walking it in right away."

Um...no. I was extremely disgusted with myself.

I was in the woods once on a par 4 at my home course. Had about 150 in but pretty blocked out on hardpan. Had a little gap between two trees though. Thought I'd take 3 wood and hit a little punch under and through the trees and back into play. Proceeded to top the ball, bounced through the gap in the trees and rolled about 100 yards up onto the green and into the hole. Not my finest eagle haha.

One of my favorites was playing at this crappy course we had by our apartment in college (it's closed now) but it was literally wide open. You could EASILY hit one on the wrong green. I wasn't really playing for a score back then so I took my approach with a beautiful baby fade that hit the flagstick and landed about a foot from the hole. You guessed it. Wrong hole. I was so mad as that was the best shot I hit all day. Of all the times I "accidentally" hit the wrong greens at that course, was the only time I ever did it on purpose!

Foot slipped out on drive on a par 4 last summer. Hit my tee shot about 50 yards. I’m still like 320 out so I hit 3 wood just trying to hit it solid and run it down the fairway and give myself at least some chance to get up and down. I hooked the drive about 40 yards left, hits a tree about 70 yards from the green and kicks forward and right to the green and was left with a 8 footer.

Approach shot to a double green. I check the yardage to the flag with my rangefinder, pull my seven iron, mishit it and I'm thinking "that's way short". It turns out I was shooting the wrong pin (further away), and my ball ended up about 8 ft from the actual pin for my hole. Missed the birdie putt.

Probably many years ago. My tee shot off the fifth at Rye Hill dropped me behind a stand of trees. I attempted to go over them which, this being very early in my golfing career, I failed to do. Instead the ball ricocheted sideways off one of the trees. Then it ricocheted backwards off another tree and ended up ten yards to my right and twenty yards behind me.

One of the people I was playing with began to sing 'Pinball Wizard'.

My next shot was awesome and flew nearly 200 yards to within a yard of the pin. Considering that back then I was still struggling with a reverse pivot and rarely drove more than 170 yards I don't know where that came from.

But it's shots like that (however rare) that keep me coming back :)

I made a hole in one like that - not so much mis-hitting the shot as mis-judging the distance...it was dusk & depth perception was difficult

Double eagle... Was trying to lay up to 100 yards on a par 5, green well down below the level of the fairway... Ball landed on and bounced off the yardage plaque. Found it in the hole.

Had a shot in league play last year: 140 yards in, over water for most of it. Hit a 9 iron fat and was convinced it was heading into the pond, but I got just enough on it to catch the rock border surrounding the water. Took a huge hop off the rock, onto the green and ended up about 5 feet from the pin. I remember that shot really well, but don't remember if I made the follow up putt.

That reminds me of the weird 'hovering ball' I once managed at a resort in Spain. One of the holes requires you to carry 140 yards of swamp. Of course everyone there can fly a ball 140 yards..except apparently when it involves going over water.

So I step up, my trusty driver in hand. That was back when it only went about 170 yards but it was sooo dependable. I'd tell anyone who listened that it was my most reliable club. Anyway I swing and I miss hit it. The ball barely gets more than a metre above the ground before levelling out. My partner mutters 'so much for Mr Reliable'. Except the ball somehow carries on, clears the swamp and rolls a fair distance along the fairway. We discussed that shot for nearly an hour that evening trying to work out how the hell that ball managed to fly across the swamp looking for all the world like it was maintaining altitude :-/

Pretty sure it was this hole - there's a group parked at the tee and the ball has to follow the white muddy area across to the fairway.

Short downhill Par 3, hit it way right into trees, hit a bunch of trees and a big rock (mountain course), careens out of the trees, hits path, one hops in rough to right of green and trickles down green stopping about an inch behind hole. I was the first to hit, by the time the fourth guy hits, the group behind rolls up to the tee box and goes nuts about the amazing shot I hit to place the ball an inch behind the hole.

Had just played golf for a couple of months so i wasnt really good to start with. It was a par 5 and i had hit my second shot almost into the water but the ball had stopped on some thick grass. I had around 90 meters left and i grabb my pitching wedge, blade the s*** out of the ball and it rolls all the way and hits the flag, bounced and stopped maybe 1 meter from the hole. My second birdie ever!

Playing miserably in a high school regional championship, I’m at a point in the round where I just need to stay out of the way of the guys in my group who are actually contending. Par 3 and my tee shot goes way long, just as my coach shows up to watch. I procede to duff a chip that leaves me 30’ down a tier for par. I lined up and stroked... probably an inch behind the ball and the putter bounced and thudded the ball. I stormed off the green and didn’t watch the putt, but my coach pointed and I turned around. The ball had found the slope and I saw it disappear into the hole. I shudder to think how far away I would have been had I stroked it as intended.

On the same day I got a hole in one, I hit a great drive on a par five and had 187 left to the flag. I hit a thinned 5 iron that seemed to never get above 10 feet. It hit in front of the green and rolled, and I just figured it rolled past and through it. I walked up, looked all over behind the green for the ball and couldn't find it anywhere. I looked in the cup...and it was there! Albatross! I couldn't believe it.

(So, it wasn't all great that day. All I had to do to shoot under par for the first time ever was get a double bogey on 18. Of course, I got a triple!)

This is the best shot I recently hit by accident. I was playing a 2-man scramble with a friend and I honestly had not helped out much all day. We were on 18 which can be a pretty long hole if you don't hit a really good drive and a fade is out of the question to keep it in the fairway. I smoked a really nice little draw down the middle. It was cart path only with all the rain we have had so I ranged the distance to be 120 from the cart. The hole was cut just over a bunker on the front of the green with the back half falling away from the hole. I slightly chunked the ball and immediately thought I was going to be short and in the bunker. Evidently the distance was just a little over 100 yards and my ranging from the cart was wrong. The ball cleared the bunker and stopped 5 feet past the hole. Best chunky shot I ever hit! We made the birdie.

In the same tournament there were closest to the pin prizes on all 4 par 3's. The longest par 3 was playing 176 yards. The guy that won hit driver to 2 feet from the pin.

221 yard par 3. Tried to hit a draw 5 iron. Blocked it out right. It hits in the middle of a big tree, bounces straight up in the air, comes down and hits another branch, and somehow kicks back onto the green to 5 feet. Won closest to the pin in 50+ Person Skins game and made the birdie for a skin.

My father and I were playing behind a group of really slow guys who wouldn’t let us through even after we politely asked. After 6 holes we get to 12 it’s a 275 yard uphill par 4 with bunkers in front and a thin walking path between the bunkers. My father hits his 5 iron and I think what the heck and hit an easy 3 wood. I killed it! Straight as an arrow! So whe get up to green and these 4 guys are waiting I’m thinking ohh great I hit someone. They were excited waiting because my ball hit the strip between the bunkers 1 hopped then rolled across and dropped for an ace! Best shot I ever hit! I bought everyone a soda after the round. Lol

Skulled a shot for my only hole in 1...

Ugly skull takes off way to fast hit everything like lip of bunker shoots sideways hits flag hard but ends up in cup....I had a strange reaction tho where I wasnt happy bout ruining my first hole in 1 with a crap shot lol cause a hole in 1 to me is about beating the hole with a perfect shot that I have yet to do

Can't figure how to like my own posts

I was playing Tour 18 in Houston, and on the 10th hole (Par 5), I had 110-120 yards to the flag. I bladed my PW a bit, and hit a low one into the green that went into the hole for eagle. My playing partner was adding up his score from the front 9 didn't see the ball go in the hole.

Pull cut a 6 iron into a 178 yard par 3, knew it would be on the green, maybe a bit deep. Had no idea it would become my first Ace.

The only hole in one I’ve ever witnessed...135 yd par 3. Regular game while I was in the Air Force. Buddy pulls/smothers tee shot long left out of bounds into back yard of house by the green. It hits midway up a tree, richochets back on to the course and trundles into the hole. We made him buy beer the rest of the round.

When I was first learning to play in the early sixties, I was not old enough to get on our local city course. I spent a good deal of my free time banging balls in a section of the open field my Dad had mowed down behind our house. I used his clubs, a WWII vintage set of Tommy Armours since I didn't have my own. Since I was my primary instructor based on what I'd seen on TV and read in golf magazines, most of my shots were glancing blows. One day I pulled out the 2 iron and swung away. I stood in awe and the ball rose quickly on a straight arc that peaked just as it passed over our house, finally landed in the street and bounced into the neighbor's front yard. It was that first pure strike that was hardly felt at impact but once it happened, I was hooked forever.

When I first started golfing, I didn't take it serious. Golf was more of an excuse to get out and have a few drinks with the guys.

I was 40 yards out from the green, and I bladed my shot so bad it would've went at least 100 yards, just an absolutely atrocious shot. I don't even know how it was possible to hit it that bad, but it did. Fortunately it was heading straight towards the pin, gets wrapped up in the flag, and drops to two inches!
