Putter fitting for juniors

I know that juniors get fit for clubs all the time but im curious if any of you have gone through a putter fitting for your junior golfer? Most parents just get their kid a nice putter and cut it down but I was curious how much a custom fitting would help things. If you do go the route of a putter fitting, do go with a company like Edel who has their own fitting system and you are choosing from one line of putters? If you went somewhere that had a SAM putting lab, how do they fit you on a specific putter when there are so many brands out there.

I think the whole fitting process for the putter would have to help just like it does with regular clubs. I’m just trying to wrap my brain around how to go about it. If you go to someone like ClubChampion or a place with a Sam Putting lab they will analyze your stroke but then you have so many different brands and models to choose from. Seems like it would be easier to deal with one brand like Edel or Scotty and then fit fit on just their product.

Have not done this for my son but a buddy's kid went to the Cameron studio for a fitting a year ago. Guy doing the fitting said he just needed a small adjustment of his current putter adjusted and gave him a couple of tips to fix his stroke. Said he didn't need a new putter but the kid bought one anyway.

I'm not sure I could go to the Scotty studio and not walk out with a new blade.

I’ll check the app out. Just wanted to make sure that the loft and lie are right. Also wanted to make sure that the putter she has is the best one as far as alignment is concerned.

That is why I thought a putter fitting might be a good idea.

I run a fitting studio and have tons of junior golfers come through for putter fittings. Its the one club that you can constantly tweak as they grow for cheap. I have a kid who comes in once a year to have me adjust his putter. I put him on SAM and adjust accordingly.

Total cost is about 40 dollars a year including his fitting fee. Its best to fit them for the putter for there stroke and then keep them with the same model and grip for as long as possible to build confidence in there putting stroke.

That is why I thought a putter fitting might be a good idea.

The app will tell you the loft, lie, as well as swing path. That should give you a good starting point.

The fitting won’t really change in regards to how a person aims different shapes and alignment aids. Length, weight, and lie might change a bit but the design fitted into won’t. And those other things are easily changed without buying a new putter.

As a current college freshman, I can say I wish I had gone to Club Champion much sooner than I did. I went a little over a year ago, right after I had committed. It made the biggest difference in my game that any change has ever made. I would strongly encourage going, especially now since it is 33% off. Great, experienced fitters who really care. They will not push you towards any brand or try to upsell you. I was getting the same numbers with a $200 Taylormade and a $550 Betti. They recommended the Taylormade for a multitude of reasons. I cannot recommend them strongly enough. (Also I went to the Willowbrook location near Chicago)

LOL sounds like you or someone you know works for CC. I went to that location based on some recommendations to get fitted and had a bad experience. No acknowledgment when I showed up for about 15 minutes even though one of the guys wasn't doing a thing. Then just really unenthusiastic fitting session where not much was getting explained to me except "are you going to take some lessons to change your swing?" How would you read into that comment? Anyways, F CC and their overpriced BS.
