So how much money did you spend on golf equipment this year?

I figured it up the other day. Actually I should say my wife figured it up the other day. Way too much to go into detail, but total was around 12,000.00. I sold about 7,000.00 though so it really was about 5000.00

Way too much honestly we are buying a new house this year so this number will be drastically reduced to a few hundred dollars :) thousand dollars max!!!

LOL LOL to the floor .... ha ha. Thank you for making me feel so much better.... but I have to ask "what is the real total in your credit statement?" :)

As a wise man on a photography forum once told me:

One of my greatest fears is that when I die, my wife will sell all my equipment for how much I told her I purchased it for!

In that light:

Yes, the irons listed were sets and not single irons ;-)

TM P770 - $156.83

TM P750 - $183.40

Titleist 716 CB - $94.87

Ping i200 - $112.14

Ping i210 - $148.70

Mizuno MMC - $151.90

TM M3 - $87.60

Ping G400 - 84.30

TM M2- 74.30

TM Spider Red - 48.60

Scotty Cameron x 2 - $100.89

TM M3 3 wood - $65.70

TM M2 HL 3 wood - $51.91

Of course the multiple wedges were given to me by friends and the pros at all the local courses let me play for free...with cart.

Because of all the great used prices and so many nice people running multiple courses (Except Pebble and Spyglass were full price - my wife was with me), my total golf spend not counting clothes, shoes, and balls:

$1,362 dollars. :-)))

Honestly not sure. I did a lot of trading to Dallas Golf.

It was an unusual year in that I was coming back from 9 years away from the game after catastrophic compound fractures to both arms. I did do 2 fittings, one at Club Champion. Even with that it was a tough year finding what felt right, had the trajectory I wanted, etc.. Then I hit a ton of balls and developed a horrible case of tennis elbow and was getting shots for that in my elbows plus getting shots in my neck after being struck head on by an impaired driver...all separate from the motorcycle wreck that broke both arms years before. So, I had to try a lot of clubs to get where I finally felt perfect without a lot of pain.

But, trading clubs is cheaper than motorcycles, sports cars, and race boats. I find the one post interesting saying how insanely wasteful your buying was. Of course we could be more condescending and judgmental and say the whole game...any hobby is insanely wasteful??

This year, money spent will be on lessons and golf. Changing SO much did nothing for my HC. I had my first lesson with Rick Grayson, a well respected teacher in Springfield, Mo. this week and have purchased 3 more. I hit balls today in 37 degrees and drizzle and put to work what he taught me. I can't believe how much difference a small change already made!!

Driver- Titleist TsR2 with Graphite Design Tour AD

4w - Titleist Tsi2 with Tensei Raw Blue shaft

19 Hy - Titleist 818 H1 with Atmos Tour Spec

23 Hy - Titleist 818 with Graphite Design Tour AD-DI shaft

5i-PW - Bridgestone J15 CB with Recoil F4 110 shafts

50,54,and 58 Wilson Staff wedges with SF shafts

I have to ignore your “why” question because I don’t have an answer that even I feel reasonable and making sense :) My New Year resolution: spend no more than 50% of the 2018 total. I should be able to achieve this because my Ping G400 Max works really well together with the Callaway X-Forged irons and Rogue woods. I don’t need new clubs for a long time to come... yes!

3 dozen Srixon Zstar (big sale), Regriped 1 club myself, a new leather glove. So a total of about $100. Also got a new Vokey lob wedge for free.

Year before about the same plus a used mint condition Cleveland Launcher from ebay for $60 which I still hit further than all my friends with newer drivers :)

So to the OP to answer your question, your number sounds beyond insanely wasteful (since you asked). I have to ask, WHY?

Guessing 3k+

Cobra F8 fairway woods (3 and 5)

SM6 wedge set (50,54,58)

4 custom leather covers from Dormie Golf

5 dozen balls

Callaway Rogue SZ driver (sold and bought a cobra F8+)

Numerous hats, pullovers, shirts and gloves.

Ecco biom 3

Nike Roshe

Just purchased a Bradley custom putter, cobra one length hybrid and 2 linksoul polos.

Set for next year unless I give OL irons a go. Leaning towards Edels.

Lets see...4 different drivers, 2 three woods, 4 hybrids, two set of irons, about 18,000 shafts, then there are the grips, the wedges, a couple new bags...two swash templates..blah blah blah...

about $150

As was previously stated, I don't want to know because I will get mad and depressed, but somehow, my friends seem to keep a fairly accurate tally of my spend.

Precision Pro Range Finder / Local Mom&Pop / $249 - $50 credit from a scramble = $200

Sun Mountain C130 cart bag / Golf Galaxy / $250 - $50 off any purchase over $250 = $200

TM P770 4-PW new in box / eBay Ksouth9 / $375 shipped = $375

Odyssey O Works Red 7S Like New / Callaway Preowned / $178 - 25% off holiday sale = $134

Super Stroke Mid-slim 2.0 US Ryder Cup with countercore / eBay Viking Golf / $24 shipped = $24

2 Titleist gloves and 6 dozen AVX balls / Course Pro Shop / +/- $300

$1233.00 (give or take)

Won't be buying new irons or grips next 3-4 years. Won't be buying new putter next year. Won't be buying new bag for 4-5 years. Won't be buying new Range Finder for 4-5 years.

It was a big year for me, but most I might do next year is New Old Stock Driver and a wedge, and I don't even really count the gloves/balls as I'll buy those every year. Only other thing on the radar is a Clikgear cart, so maybe another $220 (but I have 1 more day to grab that before it goes towards 2019 purchases :)! )

The least that I’ve spent for a number of years!

Scotty Cameron 5.5m - bought and sold

Odyssey 1w tank - eBay purchase

Bought and sold a couple of hybrids, but nett spend was zero.

Adidas Adipure flex - in a sale.

So nett spend is about £190.

The worrying thing is that I’m the happiest with my clubs that I’ve been for a while, so next year could be pretty quiet too.........or not!

I tend to spend in spurts, meaning I won’t buy anything for a couple years and then I splurge and spend $5k+ in a couple months. Also because I love me some JDM gear, that stuff makes US gear look like everything is 1/3rd off the price?

I used to be that guy who bought a new set of irons every year and same for driver but ever since I fell in love w a set of Epons some 7-8 years ago, no need to keep buying new irons.

That being said, i just spent about $3700 on an new set of irons which I’m just guessing will be good for another 7-8 years. Sooo, dollar cost average on those is about $550/year which is not all that crazy. Plus new driver every 2 years, new putter every 2 years and new wedges on same schedule.

I definitely spend more than my buddies on golf gear but I’m also the guy in our group that needs the latest iPhone or anything else tech. I just love new gear and the technology behind it. And so much cheaper than having a mistress?

For the first time since Julius Caesar was in office I spent more on lessons than equipment.

It did very little to satisfy my shiny new object lust, but the score card looks a whole lot better.

Maturity sucks. I hope to revert in 2019.

From my viewpoint, too much. But don't expect to spend much in 2019. Bought new driver, fwy, hyb, irons, wedge & shoes. All used except for shoes & driver. But I traded in old clubs and approx. 55% of retail on the driver.

I probably spent more than I should have this year, but now have an almost brand new bag going into 2019. If I had to guess, I'm probably around the 5k mark for the year. I would hate to actually total it up, I'd probably have to re-evaluate some life choices if I did. My goal is to not buy any equipment in 2019, so I have one more day to get a new bag! lol
