I have one of these, its a great cut off saw: https://www.harborfr...-saw-61659.html even better with 25% off.

I got extra blades, but still using the same blade after about a year or so.

Just bought this today. Used it to trim some iron shafts. Super quick and easy.

No that’s why you want an abrasive wheel cutter, they work for both steel and graphite.

How long have you owned these Cut off saw? I looked at them at they look like "You get what you pay for" I'm not

trying to stir it up but the stuff I see in Harbor Freight looks less than quality.

IMO, Harbor Freight tools are fine for the casual hobbyist. If you’re running a high volume shop or business, you should probably look elsewhere.

Maybe it's the Harbor Freight near me... The few times I stopped and looked the items I looked at were falling apart. The saw in the link just felt like a toy .

Nah, you're both right. Quality isn't great but fine for the hobbyist. Golfworks sells the same saw for $70. I have this and the belt sander and have had no problems with either.

This is correct. I’m not the best with my hands but I can get by with some things. If you wanna mess around and tinker HF isn’t a bad way to go. For anything that’s gonna get heavy/frequent use - go another direction.

I have a cut off saw and a small compressor from them. They both do exactly what they’re supposed to do. Haven’t had any issues whatsoever.

My local golf mart uses a cut off wheel on a bench grinder to cut shafts, so I cant see how this would be much worse. Bigger question is 6" version or pony up for the 14" version for other projects

You don’t need a 14 inch blade for a golf shaft. 2 X 2 steel angle yes, but not a .610 shaft.

You can also use one of these for steel shafts. No mess,no noise, easy storage. https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-3-16-in-to-15-16-in-Model-104-Close-Quarters-Tubing-Cutter-32985/100021967

Yep, I'm using an antique hacksaw and it works fine on both! Have not tried the tubing cutter, could it be faster/better than the hacksaw? Will pull mine out and give it a shot.

I have a cheapo miter saw from HF from 10 years ago that still works great. I bought a cut-off blade for it when I cut graphite shafts, then switch the blade back for wood projects.

I also have the 8 gallon air compressor that has served me well for tires, blowing out sprinklers, nail guns, etc. that I bought about the same time.

But I have had bad experiences with any of their battery-operated tools.

The tubing cutter offers a cleaner cut, no external burrs or sharp edge.

Tube cutter is much easier to use than hacksaw on steel shafts. The only thing to watch out is due to the taper on the shafts, tube cutter tends to shift slightly with each rotation, so be sure to turn in both directions one circle at a time so the blade stays in the same spot.

Hacksaw works on most graphite shafts but I have run into a couple that it really had a hard time with.. especially the recently T1100 ones. It also present a little challenge cutting through the last few fibers without tearing.

I did pick up a hand held Dremal cutoff wheel tool, but I think the table saw will work better being a bit more steady.
