The record only dates back to 1992. As mentioned in the article, Calvin Peete hit all 56 fairways at the Memorial in back to back years. It is quite possible that 59 isn't the real record.

Greg Norman made it to the 13th hole in round 4 at the Players Championship one year. One bogey for the tournament. Round a course like that, that's pretty impressive. I think he shot 63, 67, 67, 67 to be -24.

This article says he was the only winner to play bogey free. Quite possible to play bogey free and not win, and an obvious omission in the story. I’m guessing the author either didn't want to research or the information isn’t available.

A perfect game is defined as one where no batter reaches first base. That has been done 23 times.

I know that. I am saying that a perfect game by way of all 27 strikeouts has never been achieved. There is no such term for such a feat, so I just arbitrarily called it a perfect perfect game.

 

I say a perfect game is 27 pitches with 27 unassisted ground outs to 1B is the ultimate perfect game. Thats a clean scorebook. 3 unassisted all the way down, all on the 1st pitch. 27 strikeouts is inefficient, why throw all those pitches?

This is now doubly off-topic, but these are not records. These are just theoretical things that have never been done. High jumping 15 feet isn’t a record. It’s just something that’s never been done.

 

Cain and Koufax both had 14 strikeouts in their perfect games. 15' high jump is in the realm of absurdity, but 27 strikeouts can indeed happen.

 

I still stand by my Johnny McDermott record (youngest US Open Champion) to hold true as a record that will never be broken. That, plus the Nelson 1945 wins I cannot see either happening.

I read somewhere calvin peete hit something like 100 fairways in a row one year during the 80s.
