I was surprised to see Champ in the field. I had always thought it was for the winners from the prior season, not the prior calendar year. Guess I was wrong.

I believe he won an event, didn't he? Sanderson Farms, I think.

Right, but that was in the CURRENT season (2018-2019). I was saying I had previously thought this event was for winners of the PRIOR season (2017-2018). I looked on the website. It just says "champions from the prior year", so as I said, I was wrong in my understanding.

$9500 to play in the pro am and get yourself clubhouse access for Thur-Sun.

It’s really only when I read stuff like this that I wish I had stupid “f@ck you” money laying around for just such adventures.

I would play in a lot of freaking Pro Ams if a giant pile of money dropped into my lap.

Sadly that hasn’t happened yet. ; (

Haha! I keep trying to get my wife to sponsor me for a full-time amateur golf career. She's not going for it.

It's always been this way. The Tournament of Champions used to be played at LaCosta three weeks after The Masters. If you won the week before (at say New Orleans) you got added to the field.

That's what I get for being in Finance. Me: "So when you say the prior year, do you mean CALENDAR year, FISCAL year, or the last twelve months?" :fool:

Kevin Na withdrew minutes before his tee time with a finger injury.

The 2019 rules required him to pull his finger out and play faster. He couldn’t.

In other news, a poor end to the front nine for Cameron Champion. Easily done though, as I once 5 putted the 9th at Kapalua.

I was lucky enough to play the Plantation course three times two years ago. I played from the tips twice, and from the next tees up one time so I could play with a group. It adds a whole new level to watching a tournament.

I got the new NBC Gold Golf package but I can't seem to find the tournament. Does anybody know how to watch this on mobile?

This tournament is not part of the Gold package. If you have a login from a cable or satellite provider you can use the regular NBC Sports app
