S300 Replacement?

Greeting WRXers! First time poster, long time lurker.

 

I'm looking at getting a new set of irons and love the X forged 18 and the i210. As far back as I can remember I've used DGS300 or whatever they want to call it these days. When hitting those two (I'm switching from MP-69's) I noticed I was hitting the ball sky high. As I play in Oregon and it gets a tad windy, I wouldn't mind a lower flight. Any suggestions of shafts I should look for? Should I consider X Flex?

 

My clubhead speed with a 7 iron is just below 90mph when I swing smooth and I can easily get it to about 93 mph if I let loose. Driver speed is 109 swinging easy and 113 stepping on it. I'm in X Flex with my woods and use AMTs in my 3-5 iron simply because I prefer the lighter weight in my long irons.

 

I'm hoping to find a used set on Callaway pre owned or maybe the bay...would love any tips or shafts I should try to find!

If you're hitting DG too high I'm not really sure there is a solution.

 

X100 should launch a tad lower then s300 but not much

KBS C taper 130x or Dynamic Gold X7's produced the lowest flights for me.

Ping offer power spec lofts, I guess Callaway will allow a degree or two strong, perhaps this might be a valid direction. Loft is a more reliable way of controlling launch than changing shaft. Finally it might worth trying a few more heads (Srixon Z785 for example) as they all have subtle differences in launch and spin.

Your swing speeds sound similar to me and I went from S300 to soft stepped X100 and noticed a lowering of flight. Nothing drastic but it definitely helped, brought dispersion in too. May not help for your swing but definitely worth a look.

 

I know some like KBS C-Taper 130X to keep flight down but personally I thought they felt very harsh. I've not hit the others mentioned above.

Thanks all! I think I’ll give the x a try. My mizzies flew a good height but new heads seem to have higher flights and I dont think hitting a 7 iron 100 feet and carrying it 190 is something i find attractive. Too bad there aren’t demo days in Oregon in January!
