In this case I think it comes down to the model you are looking at buying. Blade to blade, edge to Mizuno, ever so slightly. Cb to cb...draw for me. GI...draw as well.

Titleist does have a firmer feel. Performance wise, I have found the AP2 series to be a more consistent product, as it is relatively unchanged over the last ten years.

But nothing compares to the feel of a Mizuno blade.

The question is too general to have any meaning.

Too many models, which differ in design and feel, to have a valid answer.

You'd have to compare models.

This is exactly right.

I’ve bounced between the two for years. I love them both. You really to pic a model and compare. I don’t think you can make broad comparisons about feel between the two. I’ve got some MB and ap2 that have felt like butter and I e hit some mp 25 that felt very clicky. It just depends on the model.

Both perform to the ability of the dude swinging the club. However, mizuno feel better imo. The feel/sound of titleist is not as resonant since the 690s....the 710cb was also schmantastic in all categories.

I actually think that titleist is better suited to the majority of golfers in most categories, while mizuno is better suited to those pimpin'

Edit: i play mizunos....obviously ;)

Mizuno is just in a different room when it comes to forging. Titleists look great but just don’t feel the same as a Mizuno. Will never play a different iron. Wouldn’t play Titleist irons if they were given to me. I do like Titleist woods though.

Haha! I’m guessing if someone handed you a box with a set of brand new 718 AP2’s, you’d take them!

While Mizuno has a slightly softer feel, AP2’s are soft also. In a comparison, MP18 SC’s win in feel, but AP2’s are slightly more forgiving.

Having owned and played MP14’s, 29’s, 30’s, 33’s, 60’s, 32’s, and 64’s over the years, I do understand your position though.

I love Mizuno blades, I have played MP14s, 29s, 30s, 32s, 33s, 37s, 60s, 67s, 68s and 69s. I currently have a set of Titleist 681s with Project X 6.0 shafts that are the sweetest feeling irons I have ever played. I thought I read somewhere where Titleist puts a hickory dowel in the hosel of the iron to improve feel .

Titleist did the dowel thing on their Tour Model blades in the 80's. I don't think they've done it since.

Titleist feels firmer and 'clickier' vs. Mizuno, plus there is a big diff. in price here. ;)

This seems to be the concensus among folks I play with.

Generally there are simply too many variables in a question like this. However, I think I can comfortably say that at the players club level, there are certain aspects of feel and turf interaction that would cause me and a number of others to generally favor a Mizzy. But there are other factors that cause many to prefer Titleist irons.

You mention turf interaction... I actually feel that since the 716 line, Titleist has the edge. That pre worn sole they put on is excellent. The jpx has similar, but not the mp. I a Dudley think the 716 cb was the best cb they made. The new ones are two piece gave and body... didn’t feel as good. The 718 ap2 feel great. The mp18 is amazing feel, but the sc has the added forgiveness. My biggest complaint with the latest Mizuno irons is the thicker square top lines. I prefer the thinner more rounded look of the Titleist this year.

Like others have said, it’s personal preference more than anything. Purely subjective.

Since 2000, I have played with the following forged blades: 1999 Hogan Apex, Titleist 681, MP-32, Titleist 680, Titleist 716, MP-14, MP-68

My gamers for the past 2 years have been the 716s. I think they are the most versatile forged blade out there. I recently picked up the 68s and have been playing with them for a couple of weeks now. With the PX5.5 shafts, they mercilessly kicked the MP-14s to the curb (DG-S300) and I sold them on the BST this week.

Whether the 68s become my gamers is TBD, but they are some really nice irons. I hit the MP-18s at the last demo day of the year a couple of months ago and wasn't impressed with them.

Looks: classic musclebacks look great from both companies

Feel: TBH, I think the shaft has more to do with the "feel" than the head. Right now I think the 68s with PX5.5 feel better than the 716s with Steelfiber i95s. But they also feel WAY better than the MP-14s with DG-S300.

Workability: This is where (for me) the 716s are just flat-out shine. I can work them left and right, high and low. In the few rounds I have played with the 68s, I am not seeing the same level of workability with the 68s. Solid shots are bliss with the 68s. Maybe it is the sole design (the 716s and the 68s are very different), maybe it's the shaft, but right now I am unable to achieve the same level of workability with the 68s

I am really tempted to buy another set of PX5.5s and stick them into a set of 716s heads I have as backups...

YMMV

If talking pure muscleback offerings, Titleist fit my eye better and Mizuno feel just a bit better. Lately I've chosen Titleist. If Mizuno could find somebody to design a decent looking 9i and PW, I might go that direction.

If talking CB/AP type clubs, Titleist is light years ahead imo. It's as if Titleist truly believes that multi-material and such can improve the performance of a club and put some effort into doing so while Mizuno believe it is simply something they must offer to remain relevant so they cobble something together before the company picnic.

There is a Titleist demo day coming near to my location. Will try out the AP2 and compare with my current MP60.

Just before i joined

Golfwrx i bought 681 irons locally. They hooked badly because of lite shafts.

Nice. Not clicky.

Bought 710mb instant clicky!! Sold bought Wilson FG62.. nice!

Today i have Hogan Apex Plus with original rp rifles

And thats my winner.

I look ford to buying both 716 and 718 and MP4 or MP5 in a few years. I genuinely think the Titleist forgings got softer from 716 on.

Titleist feels firmer and 'clickier' vs. Mizuno, plus there is a big diff. in price here. ;)

Especially when you factor in no upcharge for a nice selection of premium shafts/grips.

Just clarifying. You are talking about Mizunos not having up charge right?

I love Mizuno blades, I have played MP14s, 29s, 30s, 32s, 33s, 37s, 60s, 67s, 68s and 69s. I currently have a set of Titleist 681s with Project X 6.0 shafts that are the sweetest feeling irons I have ever played. I thought I read somewhere where Titleist puts a hickory dowel in the hosel of the iron to improve feel .

They did with the 681's and the 681 T's because that's what Tiger liked and it did make them feel awesome but I have a couple sets of 681's without the Dowel in them and they feel awesome as well....

maybe someone on here knows the answer to this but the Titleist forged Irons in the time of the 681's, like the 690's, 680's and 670's all had a much better feet to them than their Irons from 2005 on, not sure if the forging house changed or what.... IMO the pre-2005 era of Titleist Forgings was the golden age!

I believe the 681s were forged by Hoffman (which is now closed down), but not sure about the rest of them. And I agree with you that the 68x irons did feel great (I played the 681s and 680s) and that "something" went amiss when they started the 7xx line of irons. But they got it right with the 716s. Closest iron to the 681 IMHO. Haven't hit the 718s so I can't comment there.
