Morning Drive...What Happened?

Every other promo is feherty acting stupid. His shtick wears on me. Love him on the actual tournament broadcasts. I think he's getting overexposed on the channel, tho...plus im usually watching mlb, lol...

I think he should dial back what he calls "humor"...

It's like robin Williams. Mork and mindy is unwatchable cuz he was always over the top. Mrs. Doubtfire is awesome cuz he's being a bit serious. Just my opinion, of course...

Yeah, but I could put up with Mork just to watch Mindy!

Especially with the medicine they had back then. Hogan!

Of course, tiger's comeback is pretty amazing as well, and I'm glad he's back!

Folks today just want to attach themselves with “GOAT”, Gary is just falling in line here. He has to proclaim whatever is happening at the moment as the greatest ever or he risks losing interest (clicks and page views). If Gary Wiodkand wins today they will project a major, a president’s club slot and 4+ wins for him. If Rory wins they will say he is a lock to finish off the career slam.

..... and next week none of this will be mentioned again.

I made an attempt to watch this morning for the first time in a long time. The first thing I heard was Jaime Diaz say “What Tiger is doing right now is the greatest comeback in golf history, maybe all of professional sports.â€

Uhm, Ben Hogan came back from near death to win 6 major championships!

If Tiger goes on to break Jack’s major record, is it then better than what Hogan did?

If if’s and buts were candy and nuts..........

Until he does, it isn’t close to Hogan!

X100

Hate to get caught up relative comparisons of injuries - enough to say that Tiger's injuries have taken him out of a lot more productive golf opportunities than Hogan's did and coming back from the totality of that to where he was in 2018 is amazing, and I've never been on his Christmas card list - BUT respect the heck out of his talent.

It's bigger whether he breaks Jack's record or not.

Hard to say. Tiger overcame so much more than just injury.

It’s hard to view the two comebacks in the same light. Tiger’s injuries are entirely self inflicted, he created every single adversity he has faced since 2008.

Hogan got hit by bus that was on the wrong side of the highway.

It’s hard to say that the guy who did all of this to himself is deserving of the title of “greatest comeback” when what he is coming back from was brought on entirely by himself.

A lot of Tiger’s wounds were self inflicted.

Still, to be put through the ringer by the media after the ‘09 scandal, then to endure all the back injuries and subsequent surgeries, then to be labeled as a washed up, crippled, has been by a lot of people, only to come back and be competitive last season is seriously impressive. The microscope he lives under is intense.

If Hogan was going through his comeback now it would be one crazy story. Probably appreciated even more so.

Good grief people. It's not even close.

Did Tiger almost die? Did Tiger have a double-fracture of the pelvis, a fractured collarbone, a fractured ankle, chipped ribs, and near fatal blood clots? Did he have to have emergency surgery that left his largest vein, the vena cava, permanently closed?

Tiger's comeback is remarkable but anyone who thinks it is better than Hogans, or is even close, has no clue what they are talking about.

Just revisiting some Hogan literature on the bookshelf today. Forgot that the effects of Hogan's injuries resulted in him making far fewer starts every year and for the rest of his career than he would have otherwise made. I'll have to do some more thinking in regard to Tiger's missed opportunities and Hogan's. Anyway, as I said, it really isn't about what was more catastrophic, who bled more, how different or multiple surgeries over time are considered, whether something was self-inflicted (hey, "Deserve's got nothing to do with it"), etc. ---- IMO.

Maybe "bigger" comeback isn't the way to look at it. Each are unique. I'm talking myself in circles, lol.

Let just look at results. In the 7 years after his accident, Ben played in 15 majors. His worst finish was T8! He finished 2nd or better 10 times and won 6 majors in that time! Tiger hasn't come close to that yet. It remains to be seen if he does. But I don't see it happening.

But one was physically more able to play than the other that's why the comparisons just don't work in the end. Or was that the case? So many different variables in play.

So is Paige gone now?

I see Chantelle is in the “discussion group” now. I really like her doing interviews, but not sure about this role. Easy on the eyes though!

And you’re right, Chantel is the best post round interviewer we have.

Paige is going nowhere for a long time (I hope). Great to work with.

I hope so too. I like Paige.

She was there last week! Does a great job as you know!

Thanks Hawk. Never turned a tv on last week (since all I had in the house was a bed and a chair). I’ll be watching for her.

Chantel used to work for the Carolina Hurricanes. She did rink side reporting, and between period interviews. She was beyond awful! She seems to be better covering golf.

The show is horrible. I tried again this morning for the MD, why do I do it? I know it will be so poor. I was starting to think, is this good, and my answer quickly came when the hacker opens his mouth, always yelling and clueless, similar to Gary. Stop yelling, no game balls, and please, I could care less what you think or what you write down for a score on a white board.

I cannot believe Damon Hack has gone on for so long without anyone getting him some help from a voice or media coach. The way he continually emphasizes the wrong syllable is frightening at this point.

Damon isn’t just good, he’s incredible. Great person and great host to my buffonery.
