The fact that Wilson is relying on a reality TV show for their Driver R&D tells me how far behind they are in the arms race.

That must come as news to both Wilson and Troy Merritt who won on the PGA Tour last year with a Wilson Staff D300 driver, Wilson FG Tour V4 Utility iron, FG Tour V6 raw iron set and Staff FG Tour PMP wedges. I think what is behind the times is how people including yourself perceive other OEM clubs in the "arms race". Expand your point of view. You might be surprised.

They look really, really good at address.

Not a fan of the look from behind, but it's the look at address that matters.

Yep. It’s the address pic of the short irons that sell me. They have some toe height , and low offset. I want to see some meat on my short irons , and all weight down low on my long and mid irons.

 

Hard to describe. They just have the look . That slice through clean look. People say “ blades are blades. “. But that just isn’t so. I don’t see that look in anything else out except from artisan and National custom. Everyone else’s new mb either has offset , or a pw that looks like a 7 iron. No thanks.

Good thing is they will most likely put those at retail. The only thing that might change is possibly some badging on the back to make it more marketable I guess? Although I think I should just leave it as is. But overall shape and what you’re looking for should be the same. They’ve been working on these plates for a couple years now. Lots of input from Streelman

Here's the thing about Wilson: They are trying really REALLY hard to get back to relevance. We don't sell many sets of Wilson these days, but to a man (or woman if you are one of those), the irons are outstanding. The wedges are extremely underrated. The woods still need work. But there is just something about a Wilson blade...

Or, should we focus on Gary Woodlands irons (which look fantastic BTW)...and turn a blind eye to Gary bagging a PING Driver (even with "incentives from the Wilson CEO")?

The all black shafts make these irons seem even cooler. Makes me really want to have that setup. Too bad Nippon doesn't do black shaft release to my knowledge.

“On Course” brand. The best. I always have some on hand. Super sticky and double density. 3/4 inch wide, not 1/2. Not shiny either.
