Xander stepping through

On two of Xander’s long iron shots today, he stepped his right foot into the ball after impact, almost like immediately walking post impact. He hit them both very close and in fact made birdie on both holes. Does anyone know what the deal with this is? Maybe having trouble transferring his weight? Or is he just plane losing balance from downhill lies?

Just making sure to cover ball and get fully through on steeper downhill/sidehill lies, not losing balance at all.

^Yup. Camera doesn't show the downhill lie. Woodland almost did a step through with his right foot on the 2nd shot on 17 as well.

 

It's not losing balance. That's where your momentum will take you on a downhill lie.

You would think a Tour Championship win, a WGC win, and 4 top 6's in Majors before the age of 25 would make you more known. But he seems to be a quiet kid unlike many of the current young guns and has seemingly flown under the radar.

 

His play yesterday is just further proof that him not being on the Ryder Cup was a horrible mistake by JF.

Yeah he's a great character guy. You think ah he's a little guy he can't win consistently against these 6 feet plus athletes. And then what do you know? He even hit 185 ball speed lol. I don't know if that was accurate but hey. He already has more fire in him than Rickie Fowler. Just one less win than him. Actually he's not that short either 5'10 taller than Rickie!

Bingo. I have 2 holes at my home course where I’ve had it happen. It’s not necessarily a conscious decision at address either. You just need to get to the lead foot and sometimes it takes pulling the trail foot up to do that. It’s an athletic move. Not a loss of anything balance wise.
