The odyssey shaft has its similarities. Its much lighter then your average putter shaft but also stable like the BGT. I have used the new odyssey 7 with the shaft in question and it performs exactly how my BGT does for the most part.

 

Is this the putter shaft Mickelson used in the Match?

No this is not the same shaft Phil used.

My local club champion ordered one for me and it took a couple days to arrive. Dropped my putter off today and I’m picking it up tomorrow

TBD203 - I don't know about all the Club Champion shops, you need to call the one nearest to you.

 

GreenValley - Myself and a few others have posted our experiences/reviews throughout this thread.

 

Over the last few months before the golf season ended here in Michigan. I started with my Toulon, Adam from my Club Champion had a Toulon LI like mine already equipped with the BGT shaft. I tried it out, liked what I felt & saw. So I went for it because I already did my research before tying it out.

 

After many hours putting from varied distances from 2' to 50' on multiple practice greens & courses, I could see a big enough difference (better then a standard putter shaft) in the average distance from the hole my putts stopped or made that I'm sold!

I went ahead an had my Bettinardi done also.

 

Disclaimer here: I did not measure each & every putt, nor did I plot out my results in a scientific analytical matter as some in this thread demand before they think it's not a gimmick. That being said, I understand the shortcoming from the BGT site. But I know what I see, feel and the fact I've made more putts then before is enough for me. I do think its more noticeable with heavier headed putters. Hopefully you have great results like me if you go the BGT route!

Did the guy who was going to try a C-Taper X ever post any results? I think this shaft "seems interesting", but not ready to shell out $200. I just ordered a new putter that I'm going to either extend or put a new shaft in, so curious about the C-Taper experiment. $40 for a C-Taper 2 iron shaft seems like a better experiment at this point than a $200 putter shaft that no data has still come out on?

I'm not the C-Taper X guy , but I do have C-Taper S 120 3 and 4 iron shafts in 4

of my no insert , plumber's hosel , moderately deep milled face putters.

 

I did the first one for cosmetic reasons , they look really good with a brushed

satin finish putter head. I found them to feel softer than the TT shafts they

came with. For install I have tipped them about 1" , to remove the .355" taper

and counter weighted the butt end with sugar in the last 12" to 14" to get the

balance to feel right with my 350 to 365 gram heads / 58 gram grips. I'm pretty

sure the sugar held in place with backing rod contributes to the softer feel.

 

I'm seeing alot of the converts to the BGT shafts are using the very soft

feeling Toulon , Bettinardi , and insert putters , with the stability shaft.

To add feel / feedback to a putter that had very little. I achieved the same

thing with installing the Accra FxP300 in my Betti Studio Stock #14 , carbon ,

deep milled , fit face putter , It felt mushy , with no feed back , and my

distance control suffered. The. Accra , a heavy , stable tipped , graphite

shaft , added feel / feedback , and was a completely different putter after

the swap...sorry for the off topic response...but my opinion as to why the

Stability shaft is working for some people needed to be shared..YMMV...

Thanks for the reply. Just received my SS Mid-Slim 2 with the 50g weight today, putter should arrive Monday. I think I'll just extend, put the new grip on, and see how it feels/rolls. Today was really our last good day for getting out playing anyway - 60* today dropping into low 30*s tomorrow :(

I see a lot of pros have great things to say about Odyssey’s new Stability shaft. I’ll probably try one of those. Barney Adams created some great hybrids and fairways, but I think I’ll trust the #1 putter manufacturer in golf with technology related to strictly putters.

I’m doubting it will be $200 either.

The Odyssey shaft is about weight and weight distribution not stability or resisting twisting. It's in the 70g range and the idea is to take weight out of the middle and redistribute more to the head and grip area for balance purposes.

 

 

Other than being multi material they aren't close to the same concept.

From what I see you can’t just order one. You have to send your putter in for them to install it ? That ain’t happening. I’d love to try one. Buy they need to put it in a box and ship it. Lol.

I’m about 4 hours from them though. Just not comfortable sending my 009 away to anyone who isn’t prepared to replace it.

Besides. A blind monkey could glue a putter shaft on and install a grip. Yet the sighted monkeys at any big chain I’ve dealt with have issues doing so. Lol

Is he not playing the Stroke Lab shaft in his putter? I haven't seen him this week, but being a Callaway guy I would just presume he was using it. They look similar.

Finally got to try one in the wild. If you're in CT or the North East, Chris Cote's golf shop in Portland CT stocks them and can install while you wait. As others have said, I can't quite put my finger on "what" the difference is, but I can say that I think there's something to it. My putts on the practice green finished closer to the hole than with the same putter without the shaft.

Getting one installed by Will this week. $200 for a putter shaft is nothing compared to the amount I’ve spent on drivers. I’ve also yet to read a review saying the stability shaft made their putting worse. Only heard about improvements or no change.
