Impressed with Zander Schauffele

My relax time this weekend (two kids...have to plan it) was sitting by the fire Sunday night watching the end of the tourney on Maui. I was really blown away by Zander's play coming down the stretch. Can't remember seeing golf played that well for some time. Always have been favorably impressed with his play. One thing I noticed about him - he's built to smash balls. Built like a powerlifter in his lower body. His dad is his swing coach? That worked out well...

1. Xander is the comeback kid.

Schauffele, who won for the second time this season and first since he beat Tony Finau in a playoff at the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions last fall, has come from behind to win all four of his TOUR titles. What’s more, Schauffele has birdied the final hole to either win by one or force a playoff each time. He has a 66.5 scoring average and is 30-under in his last six final rounds on TOUR, dating back to the 2018 BMW Championship.

Obviously not too impressed as you spelled his first name wrong. And if you haven't seen play that well you must have missed his 2017 tour championship win. Imo his performance this week was good but there's been better in the last couple years alone on tour

Yeah, wasn't that the win where he almost missed the last putt? Thanks for helping me with this information about Zshandir...

Yeah and there’s no Z in his name. It’s Xander

Watched him play at the US Open last year. Not a big guy at all, but his swing is basically as efficient as possible and he gets 100% out of his body. He doesn't seem to have any weaknesses in his game which is why I think he's a constant top performer unlike Rory (struggles with like 30-70 yard shots, sometimes putting) who can be streaky at times.

back to back birdies down the stretch to fire a course record 11 under final round to win from 5 back? no there hasn't.

They showed a graphic on the telecast that Xander's -11 tied for second best final round score in relation to par for a PGA tour winner. First was Duval's 59 (-13). Pretty strong stuff for sure.

But it's a resort course with huge fairways. A golfwrx 4 handicap could easily beat an LPGA pro on that course.

I like this kid. He has final round stuff, both game and demeanor. I predict more of the same. His name does present some opportunity for bransonbergooning but we have to have a bit of levity around here don’t we. Sometimes.

I think he should drop the ander and just go by X. Like, “I just got X’d”.

So impressed you couldn't spell his name correctly ;-)

TBH, I'd concentrate on his last name too.

I jest, he's very very solid. I wished I could top a drive and still save par :-(

I didn't see any of his interviews after the tournament. Did he ever say what the hell he was doing there? I saw the shot and it looked like he was swinging driver at about 60% of his normal speed.

I noticed at address that he had choked up on that driver quite a bit. Strange shot. Seems like a personable young guy, too, with a sense of humor.

(In my Sean Connery voice) Szhandar

Zandar Cheflyhuo. Great kid.

Score is one thing but overall performance I put tigers tour championship win ahead of it. Xander’s win at hsbc was probavky better.
