JPX Forged 919 and 919 Tour-Long Term Review??

If you follow golfnation_ on IG he is using a JPX 919 Forged 2 iron with a KBS Tour 105 hybrid shaft. Gives it really good reviews but says Tour only for now. Definitely holding out for that one to come out.

Went 5-pw 919 forged. 4 iron 919 hot metal.

That’s a great set up! I almost did the same but the 919HM 4 iron was nuclear on distance for me.

Almost as long as my JPX3 hybrid in total yards of the tee. So I stayed with the 919F 4 iron which is plenty foregiving with a lot of tech and feel cramed in that head and a nice gap fill.

Took the 919 forged out today for their debut. Hit the 1st 6 greens in regulation, highlight was a birdie on 18 to 2’ from 160. Feel is unreal... coming from PXG tours the last 2 years these are softer, fly better and have great turn interaction. I wish I put these in the bag along time ago.

Great stuff !!! Your last set ? Handicap ?

Has anybody built a combo set with these? I have 919T 8-PW 1 degree strong and was looking to go with a 919F 5-7 1 degree weak. I'm a little worried about the 8 to 7 transition with the extra ball speed on the 919F that some people are getting

IMO, some of that is exaggerated. Since my 900F, have had MP18 combo, and now 919T, all same loft configurations, and hit all about the same distance.

I am ordering a std spec 919F 5iron to go with my 919T 6-P. My 6-7-8 are 2* strong in 919T (basically 919f lofts), so easy match.

5 hdcp, had 3 different sets of 0311T's w/ PX 6.0, CTL x & x100's.

Modus + 919 forged are pure butter. May have mixed in 919 tours in the short irons but being a lefty that wasn't an option. Honestly the forged are a great size package, glad I didn't have to make that decision.

Sometimes it helps when Mizuno makes that decision for you!......Welcome to team MIZZY!!

Yeah, I wonder if some of the low launch gripes against the 900F stem from them being so strong lofted. If bent 1-2* weak I wonder if they will closer match the 919F

No, more like using improper shafts and balls. Have zero issues with stop-and-drop from the 4 iron down after a Mizuno fitting. Then again, every double-digit handicapper here is using DG X-100’s and such, then complaining about how “low” they launch. Go figure.

I had my 919T 6/7 put 1* strong (yes bit more of a gap to the 8, but I choke down a lot anyways) and put my 919F 5/6 1* weak, not played them yet so who knows might end up putting them back later.

I've got 95 F3s in mine, you know to take a break from the hardstepped rebar ;)

Fit into 4-6Hm 7-Pf G-sT7 w KbsTour120 coming frm 850s w Px6.0 ... the Hm bent to match w F lofts ... whether they are stronger lofted or not compared to the 850s the F fly much higher & Hms are unreal to me ... it will take some serious repetition to get fully use to the Hm heigth soles & offset ... so much so i think i am getting a 6F

I think the 919s are an engineering marvel BUT i think being fit in to the right length lie & shaft is what has made the greatest difference for me ...

I would also say that for me to get all my irons "gapped closer" (if that makes sense) is invaluable

Hoping for my best golf ever

Anyway ... just more of my $.02

How they don't make tours in left hand is beyond me...guess they don't want my $1400. At this point pretty much every company in golf makes everything in left hand (pxg, ping, tmade, titleist, Callaway). Alas, the mizuno boycott continues for another year.

You really showed that company that’s a lot smaller than the others

Had my 919F reshafted to Acrra 80i shafts and am loving them - no problems even getting the 5i high in the air with a good spin number. I also have a set in the PX LZ Tour 90 5.0 hardstepped and they get up nicely.

Bought a set of 919F 5-PW today but I'm 2nd guessing my decision. The 1st 2 "fitters" I worked with suggested a DG 105 or similar lightweight shaft. I worked with a Mizuno rep at a golf expo today and started with a DG 120 stiff. He then said my tempo is pretty quick on the transition and might due better with more weight. He proceeded to have me try the swing DNA and it recommended a X100 softstepped or S300 hardstepped. I tried the X100 and was getting close to 170 carry, 45 descent, and 6500 spin with a 7 iron.

I'm sort of confused at this point and thinking I may have jumped the gun. How can there be such a difference in "fits"? Who was correct? Maybe I am over thinking it but I'm tempted to put my order on hold until I get more data from more swings.

I overheard an explanation at demo day that they need to sell 3,000 sets to breakeven on the molds that have to be made for the forging and that's why no left-handed Tour.

919F less forgiving than the 900F according to Mizuno. All I’ve read is the 919F is smaller head comparatively and probably more spin. Personally I feel 900F is superior.

I own both and I would say that over all they are very similar. 919F is definitely more forgiving on toe strikes than the 900F (maybe not heel strikes but thats not my miss) for my swing. In terms of spin on the monitor from memory it was close and then I saw that the 919F are a degree or so weaker in loft so made sense to me. In terms perceivable size the 919F seam bigger to me or maybe more meatier from address. I actually prefer the smaller look at address of the 900F. For me, the reason the 919F are in my main bag, is the lack of the relief on the leading edge that to 900F has. Maybe its mental, but the 919F for me out of rough or off matts seems easier to center strike more frequently. Both amazing class leading irons, but function and cosmetics have pushed me to the 919F.

I think forgiveness goes like this between the two generations (haven't hit the HM Pro yet so not on this listing):

Most Forgiving to Least Forgiving

I bought AP2's last year after being with Mizuno's forever (MP60, MP57, MP58, MP59, MP54/64). I like them but don't love them. On a lark tried the 919T yesterday and they were a lot easier to hit than I thought they'd be. I found them to be as easy to hit as the 785's with improved feel. I tried the Forged also and didn't like the feel nearly as much and everything tended left. Kind of tempted to buy 7-P in 919T and do 4-6 in MP18 MMC but unsure if that would give me much more help than just doing all 919T. I want to try the HM Pro's as maybe they would be the ticket.

I bought a combo set late last season, since I had a bunch of shop credit. I've only played about a dozen rounds with them so far, but I really love the 919T's. The 919F 4 iron is amazing(at least off the tee). It's 25-30 yards longer than my 716 T-MB 4 iron was. I haven't had much chance to hit the 4 iron off the turf, but the few times I did hit the 919F 5 iron off the turf, I was less than thrilled. Just not a fan of the turf interaction. None of the shots I hit felt good, even when the results were good. If I continue to feel that way once I get on the course in March, there's a good chance I'll swap the 919F 5 iron for a 919T. I'll probably have to strengthen the loft on the 919T's a little to fix my gaps. I knew that would probably be needed when I got them, but haven't had a chance to spend the time on the range I'd like to make the right moves for me.

Love my Forged. Played the 900F last 2 years. Sprinkled in some i500s and Srixon 785s too. Loved the performance of both of those sets. The 785s had the best feel and turf interaction but the long irons were too demanding for me. Thought about comboing with 585s but didn't like the feel. Pings may have been the best performer all around but don't like the sound and feel. Came back to the Forged. Comparing to 900s the 919s launch considerably higher for me. There is definitely more spin. I immediately noticed I can work the ball easier over any of the clubs above due to the increased spin as well. No distance loss at all to the 900s. Forgiveness is on par with the 900s and Pings. Feel is better again over the 900s for sure but doesn't measure up to the Srixons. For me it's all about compromises. The 919F offer the least amount of compromises in an iron I am confident in through the set.

Now that I have returned my I500's I need some new players irons for a back up set.

Looking at the JPX 919 forged possibly, anyone have long term reviews on the forged or tour I mean overall distance, consistency, workability, feel and all of that after playing for a few months?

How much less forgiving are the 919 tours?

Any other recommendations for players irons with some forgiveness but thinner toplines?

Currently playing Forged Tec Blacks and they are the best I've hit in awhile but need another set to try because it's golf wrx hahahah!

Let me know thank you!

I'm playing the 919 forged and they are the best irons I have ever played. The combo of forgiveness and feel can't be beat. Only negative would be if you want a super thin top line. It seems like all the irons in the 919 line went slightly thicker.

Im a 11hcp, have been playing TM RBladez Tour for the past 5 years. Plan on getting a new set of irons this season. Debating which set is best for me. Like the look of both of them have, been told to just get the Tours cause the differences are minimal. Was leaning towards the forged for the extra forgiveness, thoughts?
