European golf really does have a hard-on for all things Irish at the moment.

 

I think he’ll be a disaster. He’ll have too many ideas and end up confusing everyone, like how he confused himself with his swing.

I believe he may be a bit "quirky" for the job. I can see him coming up with a few really "out there" decisions that will either turn him into a folk hero or make him more hated in Ireland than Oliver Cromwell.

Nah water off a ducks back. Paddy is so in his own a head we won't even notice, so the journos won't even bother.

Of course it won't really matter when they win it 15 1/2 to 12 1/2 after the Belgian Thomases go a collective 6-0-2 and Phil spends the week heckling the US team. Hey never too early for predictions

I disagree to some extent, if a Euro captain loses away from home and does a good job with regards to the players then the criticism seems to be far less. For example Faldo vs Clarke, the levels of criticism for those two were miles apart. Lots of leaks to the press about the former being a bad captain not so much with the latter. I think the Euro press is realistic that the US team will almost always be heavy favourites when playing at home.
