Golf Course Logo on Apparel

BRS2014

Recommended Posts

Do people really care? Wear / use what makes you feel good.

Ping irons, TM driver and hybrids. Titleist bag. Srixon towel. Nike shoes and trousers, Footjoy and Ping layers, Proquip waterproofs, Mizuno brolly, Bridgestone balls, Galvin green winter gloves and a pair of old Dunlop mitts

That's how you could find me this weekend.

Anyone who bemoans, frowns upon or trick questions someone for wearing something with a logo that's from somewhere, or is mixed up with other logos, needs to get a life!

I'm not sure what OEM golf brands have to do with the conversation.

Buy it & wear it proudly. I haven't played Sweetens Cove yet, but drive right past it 2-3 times a year when we visit our son in Nashville. Stopped on the way home from Thanksgiving & bought a great Sunfish headcover for my driver! Never seem to have time to play on these trips so I don't take my clubs, but planning to make an exception this spring.

One would assume it's because Mr. Jones doesn't play all those brands of clubs and another example of one should wear what they want.

You like it rock it! I have a Sleepy Hollow quarter zip because I like the logo and that's what I say when asked. I would stay away from "Members Only Logos" as that seems a bit over the top.

Why? What’s the difference? What if you just really like the logo (as people have justified here)?

I wear my Red Sox hat all the time, but I never played in Fenway.

saw 2 at fenway in '81. greatest park ever! yaz, rice, green monster, stadium anncr hanging out the window announcing players. awesome!

of course, nobody looks at me wearing a sox cap and thinks i'm in the starting rotation. it just means i'm a fan.

golf is different, but wear whatever the heck you want. but nobody's fooled if somebody's wearing an augusta hat, lol...

Fair point, but for me the club/members created a members only logo to separate the Members from the schlubs and that seems a bit elitist. It's their club so I guess I respect that they don't want me representing them. I am fine with that and couldn't care less if to OP wanted to wear the members only stuff. I just stated that I would stay away from it.

Another comment on this topic...a conversation doesn't have to end if you're asked about a logo and haven't played a course. Two true stories:

1) At a bbq with some friends, nothing golf related, I was wearing a Sleepy Hollow hat I picked up along the way, but I have not played there. Someone asked me about it. Said I would love to play sometime. Started us talking about other cool courses in the area we have/want to play. He is now one of my good golf buddies.

2) I asked a random coworker about a logo I didn't recognize on a shirt. I didn't know he played golf, much less considered himself an "avid" golfer. Can't remember what course it was now, but it was a shirt his in-laws got him (or so he said - maybe it was a thrift store pick-up. Doesn't matter to me in the slightest. He likes the logo, so he wears the shirt. Now I have someone to talk golf with at work who I otherwise wouldn't have had any reason to talk to.

It pays not to be a member of the fashion police. Well done.

I can see what you are saying but If I bought it at Goodwill then they have several options--- They can buy it back from me for $8 ( hey I gotta make a profit) or they can try to take it off of me by force ( I would not advise that) or leave me alone. But on the other hand I would not go around misrepresenting myself as a member of their club either. Hey it got sent to Goodwill so it is fair game. And yes if someone asked me about it I would tell them it came from Goodwill and it was a nice shirt and hopefully a nice course

One of the posts commented on someone who wore a Ping visor but bagged another brands clubs. I was merely using my eclectic mix to illustrate "so what?"

You never know. I played a charity event at a country club where I will never make enough money to belong, bought a shirt at the pro shop as a souvenir. I wore it teaching one day and a student asked if I played there often. I said no, just a charity scramble, but I made sure to get a shirt. Turns out her dad is a member. "He likes to golf," she said dryly. So . . . you never know. Maybe one day I'll get to play it and play my own ball.

I wear logo shirts from courses I have played at for the most part. I however have a good friend that travels a lot and he picks up a logo ball and golf shirt for me at most of the courses he plays at and I will wear them because they are a gift and if someone asks me I tell them I received as a gift.

I've got a buddy that due to his work has played some of the most prestigious golf courses in the U.S. One of his favorite things to do when he goes is buy apparel to hand out to friends and family. I'm not turning down something from Augusta National or Pine Valley just 'cuz I haven't played it ...
