I went from G25s (great irons) to i15s mainly because of the sole. I'm more of an in to out swinger now. Keeping the G25 Driver.

I moved from g25s because I couldnt push my distances. For example! If I gave my 7 iron a bit more because I was between clubs I didnt get my extra yards it just went higher. Very odd.

I play a set of G25s and just bought a set of Srixon 565s. I swapped out the G25s for some Mizuno JPZ EZ Forged (orange and black model) back in 2017 that I played and off. But the G25s always found their way back to my bag...especially for big league events or tourneys.

I plan on playing the 565s all year, but I'm absolutely keeping the G25s in the bullpen just in case.

Last year I played a set of G400 with alta cb stiff. Was a bad experience. Probably would have been okay with modus 105 stiff. Not sure. Regardless, into Srixon Z785 and it's much much much better.

    i5 to G25 to iE1 to i200 with stops with G, G400, G700 and P790's in between.

Didn't care for the soles on the G, G400 and G700 and biggest reason I went to the i200.

Played P790's most of last year and enjoyed them but wanted to go back to Nippon Modus 105 shafts or graphite and found i200's with the Nippon's do they should hold me over until the 410's come out.

G25's were and still are my favorite G series. Toss up between i5 and i200 in the I series.

I moved away from a G30 ls driver because it sounded awful and had a slightly harsh feel. Edit - .Oops this thread is about G irons

Interesting replies so far. My g30’s are consistent in terms of distance and mid-high ball flight. I don’t ever worry about trying to hit power fades or draws with them. I would like some flight flexibility, however.

I left Ping at the 15's and haven't been back, but have hit every iteration on every cycle. The 410's do look good.

I moved on from my g30 set because I felt confident enough in my ball striking to go to something that suits my eye better. I still have the set though.

Try doing some stretching exercises for flexibility and keep the G30's.

There were a lot of changes between the G30 and G iron and those were paramount in my decision to move from an ISI to the G irons. I have not been disappointed.

Good question. I’ve been playing G30 irons for several years, and have been scoring well with them. For some reason (WRX influence probably) I keep looking at other options. A few months ago I bought a set of G700’s and sold them. Back to the G30’s until I decided I needed TM P790’s. I’ve only had them a few weeks and only have a couple of range sessions with them, but if they don’t perform better on the course than they do on the range they’ll be on BST.

If the P790’s don’t stay I’ll probably look at the G400 or G410 irons.

To answer your question- I honestly don’t know. The G30’s are great clubs. I guess the proverbial grass looking greener is the reason.

I just got a set of G400'S with KBS Tour shafts, -1/2" after using the Mizuno Shaft Optimizer to help me figure out where I should begin with shaft testing.

The results are pleasing thus far.

G25's are currently my backup set. But they are firmly in the rotation with my MP-64s.

The reason why I got away from them last year was I found they lacked a bit of versatility that I needed on my course (season pass on an old-timey, tree-lined track). On many holes, if you weren;t in the short grass, you'd be battling with overhanging limbs or needed to manoeuvre the ball to avoid the trees. Had a hard time moving the ball on these types of shots. Sounds funny to say, but the high and straight shots weren't the play LOL.

This year, not renewing my pass and will course-hop, so they'll get a fair shake again

I know this sounds like a PING-poster-boy-shill-ad-salesman, but the G400 iron head might be my favorite of all time (and I've played every head since the Karsten I). It has a perfect (for me) blend of offset, sole width/grind, topline and the finish is outstanding (once you scrub the Hydropearl off). There's just enough clubhead there to not look like a shovel, but it plays VERY forgiving.
