Daily gym routine. Monday to Friday. Umbrella during round of golf on hot days.

Nothing with sugar (or caffeine for that matter). I make a mix of water, orange juice, and salt. 12 oz water to 4 oz OJ and then a pinch of salt.

An hour before the round I try to eat a high carb meal (like pasta or rice) to give me energy and bring lots of water (at least 2 liters) to keep me hydrated, especially on hot days. I also bring some Clif or energy bars if I feel like I'm running out of gas at the last few holes.

Water and any sort of nuts (cashews, peanuts, whatever is your favorite.) The trick for me is to have a nibble before any sort of hunger urge hits - so likely a bit before the turn.

 

What I like about nuts is that they don't melt or get sticky and go down really easy with a drink of water, and taste and work the same whether its hot or cold out there. The bit of salt on them is welcome, too.

That’s why I only drink 4 ounces of it diluted down by 12 ounces of water as I mentioned.

I'm really digging sunflower seeds (no shells) more these days in addition to my favorite of almonds and grapes. Mostly this is a non-messy group, but my OCD has me using hand sanitizer pre/post consume. Your golf ball rolls thru alot of toxic sludge out there. :huh:

 

Water is king, but my tastebuds need the trickery provided by Stevia-based electrolyte drinks such as Sobe or Vitamin H20 Zero.

Heat doesn't really effect me too much. But I usually just bring a couple bananas or an apple to eat and water to drink. I cannot play any sport on a full stomach, especially in the heat.

 

I will throw a dip in (I know it's bad for me as well) if I'm losing a bit of focus or energy.

I use i start my round with a golfers aid drink, then on course is body armor, protien bar and fruits. Always wear a hat and sun screen.

The high fructose syrup/added sugar found in sodas is pretty terrible.

 

The sugar in fruit is not terrible if moderated. But I guess your talking about store oj, which has added sugar

If I play in the morning I have a cup of coffee 20 minutes before round and a granola bar or PB&J on the turn. I normally walk those rounds. If riding, I am more inclined to dip/cigar and various adult beverages with a hotdog extra onions on turn. Try to limit cart rounds as they get messy.

If anything can go right, it might!

Miller Lite with a Powerade on the turn.

When I used to caddy on hot days, 36 holes, afterward I would suffer from cramps. An old school caddy told me that this (it was miller light and Gatorade) would cure my cramps, and he was right. This is my rehydration formula when I suffer from cramps from the heat. Never fails.
