Epic Flash Sub Zero vs. Epic Sub Zero

I had a chance to hit the Epic Flash Sub Zero 9* vs. my gamer, Epic Sub Zero 9*

Epic Flash Sub Zero was 9* in neutral settings and had the Tensei CK Pro White 70-TX @ 45.75" (plays as an x flex, just marked tx since it's the CK Pro line)

Epic Sub Zero was 9* in neutral settings, heavy weight forward, and had Diamana White D+ 70-X @ 45"

I've owned a couple of Rogue Sub Zero's over the years but they always spun quite a bit more than the Epic, so I always went back to my Epic as I was longer and forgiveness was the same. Rogue Sub Zero also seemed a bit draw-biased to me vs. the Epic Sub Zero.

Not exactly apples to apples since they were different shafts, albeit, very similar - other than the length of the shaft being longer with the Epic Flash SZ.

Also, not sure how to put the heavy weight forward in the Epic Flash Sub Zero - maybe you have to order different weights?? The guys at the PGA Tour Superstore were not sure - if anyone is knowledgeable here, please let me know!

Epic Flash Sub Zero - 9*, Tensei CK Pro White 70-TX @ 45.75" (heavyweight back)

**(best of 5 swings)

Ball Speed: 162 mph

Avg. Clubhead speed: 117.1 mph

Launch: 17.9*

Backspin: 1996

Carry: 298 yds

Total Distance: 327 yds

Epic Sub Zero - 9*, Diamana White D+ 70-X @ 45" (heavyweight forward)

**(best of 5 swings)

Ball Speed: 165 mph

Avg. Clubhead speed: 116.7 mph

Launch: 17.4*

Backspin: 1855

Carry: 313 yds

Total Distance: 336 yds

I'm not really looking to replace my Epic Sub Zero, since I hit it so well, but always curious when the new stuff comes out. Epic Flash Sub Zero is much louder! Almost sounds like a Ping driver, but it's hot off the face and pretty low-spin, even with the heavy weight back. I'm really curious to hit this in a heavy-weight forward setting. It's not completely obnoxious, but louder than my Epic SZ.

117mph and only 162mph ballspeed is a very poor smash factor, something isn't adding up here. Almost 18 degrees of launch would be the highest ball flight on the Pga tour by miles.

My launch angle has always been over 15* - lately closer to 17* to 18*...so yes, I hit the ball crazy high.

why didn't u try your gamer shaft in the EFSZ? sounds like the 45" length driver is a better fit. Plus it would give u more of a true test against your gamer.

FWIW - I was mainly wanting to see if there were big differences in ball speed & see roughly how much the EFSZ was spinning in the standard setting. Even with a 2g weight forward - the Epic Flash is very low spin, much lower than Rogue SZ & lower than my Epic SZ in the standard setting (usually in the Sims I’m spinning my Epic SZ 2200 with the heavy weight back).
