Save yourself the money and buy the Apex MB combo 4-PW and then, if needed by the Apex Pro 4, 5, 6 whichever you decide. I know from experience.

I had a full set of X-Forged then bought the Apex MB 7-PW. Then wanted the 5 & 6 MB so I just bought the full set of MB's 4-PW. Sold the X-Forged and Apex MB 7-PW and now just play the full set of MB's. The 4 iron is the only one in question and if I decide to go with more forgiveness in the 4 I will just buy the single iron.

And yes, I think the Apex Pro blends better with the Apex MB than the X-Forged since the Pro and MB have a chrome finish.

Just throwing the idea out there because had I just bought the 4-PW right off the bat, I would have saved a lot of time, probably money and especially the weird looks from the wife.

The Apex MB are glorious.

I have the 18 X Forged in 4-7 and the MB in 8-P. The MB are so good that I just ordered 6 and 7 irons in MB. I may end up with the 5 iron as well.

I agree the 16 Apex Pros blend better aesthetically, but I think the XF are slightly better in the long irons. I played the 16 AP for the first part of last season and never got along with the 4 iron. Not really sure why.

why not X Forged and Apex MB?

IMO the Apex Pro blends better with the Apex MB than the X-Forged since the Pro and MB have a chrome finish and almost exactly teh same topline :)

This is why I went with the '16 Pro in the long irons; the difference in finish of the X Forged didn't blend with the MB as well to my eye. I talk more about this in my WITB thread at the link below.

So I just picked up 8-PW in the Apex MB. Don't even have them yet and want the 7. I got much more out of it at the demo than I thought even with the wrong shaft. 162 with the MB and I get 167-170 out of my CF16. I had to fit for shaft with a Mizuno MP18 SC and then just hit the Apex MB in the stock Project X 6.0 which is too heavy for me.

Shaf optimizer suggested:

Project X LZ 5.5

Recoil 95 F4

KBS Tour 90 stiff

Nippon Modus 105 R

Nippon 950 stiff

*I went with the Recoil I'm familiar with.

I'm so anal I just can't make myself combo set with the X Forged because I don't want 1/2 X line and 1/2 Apex line- especially with different finishes. I'd much rather mix with Apex Pro from 2016.

Right now I have Apex CF16 I'm planning on playing in the 5 & 6. I bent my Apex MB one strong.

Callaway Epic Speed 9° Driver
Callaway Epic Speed 4W - Smoke IM10

Callaway Apex UW (21°)

Mizuno Pro 225 (4i); 223 (5-9i); 221 (PW)
Jaws MD 5 50°, Full Toe 54°, 58° PM Grind

Sounds like a great option to go with the 5-6 apex pro, 7-P Apex MB combo.

Although I have only hit them on the range for about six sessions since it’s still freezing here in Sweden. I’ll say they feel as great as I’d hope they would :)

I feel really confident hitting the 5-6 and get the extra support from the cavity back on the pro’s. And then the great feel from the 7-P MB. I think this is going to be a great year! :)

Are you of the opinion that if you can play the pros, you can play the MB’s? I have the xforged now, but wish I went MB. I’ve played the pros in the past with no issue

Yes. I honestly believe that. No idea how Callaway made such a playable blade but, it really is. I have been playing my set of 4-PW since March 1 and I have no fear of pulling the 4 iron when Im about 190ish out. It has been a year or so since I played the Apex Pro but I liked the short length of the blade which is similar to the MB. The X-Forged length from heel to toe was always to long to me. When I look down at the ball I prefer to see a smaller head. Call me crazy.

The Apex Pro and MB feel and look much more similar from address than the MB and forged. Size wise.

All in all, in my opinion, you would enjoy the MB more than the X-Forged if you really like the Apex Pro.

Hope that helps.

I just ordered a combo set of these.

I went with the 3 and 4 iron in the Apex 19 and the rest of the set in Apex 19 Pro. I ordered with Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 shafts. I figured I would give this set up a shot. I currently have an 18' combo set of 3-5 in X forged and the rest of the set in Apex MB's with PX 6.0 shafts. I am really impressed with all the new Callaway equipment. I used to play Callaway years ago and had moved on. I got that set last year along with all the Rogue woods and I was really impressed with their new offerings. I also ordered a complete set of the Epic Flash woods to go with these irons. I can't wait to try these new ones. Once a club junky , always a club junky.
