Flat Cat Putter Grip

After trying a couple different sizes in-store I went with the original lime grip in the ‘fat’ size. I use a pencil grip similiar to Fleetwood and the flat cat feels very natural in my hands that way. I feel it keeps my left hand a little more square in the follow-through, too.

Just saw a video of Justin rose talking about this grip.... He puts the flat cat wording toward the sky. Isn't that the wrong way??

 

The reason just bought one was a demo putter had installed this way. really took my hands out of it .

I had a flat cat grip all last season. Depends how you have the grip on. Flat to the target is how I had mine and I hated it so I switched to perpendicular with the target and loved it.

Anyone put this grip into a SAM puttlab test to see what difference it makes, in the same head, in regards to path and face rotation?

STill liking my original Flat Cat Standard. Tried the Tak, but going back to original on most putters.

 

BTW....anyone have a spare Original Standard...the first version WITHOUT "LAMKIN" on it, they want to get rid of? This is the one with the target symbol on the underside, not LAMKIN.

 

PM if you have one or two to spare...I have a tak I would trade as well.

I have just bought a Flat Cat - took a bit of gamble, was in desperate need of a new putter grip and had read mostly great things about the Flat Cat. I'm in the UK and I've found they're pretty rare over here.

So much so, that when I took into my local pro shop to have it fitted I made sure they knew how to fit the grip. When I collected it, they'd put it on the 'wrong', 'Justin Rose' way with the Flat Cat wording pointing up. I did ok with it on my first round but now a little concerned that since it's the 'wrong way' I could actually do better with it installed the right way... what do you guys think?

One of the most awkward grips I've ever tried. Probably just my hands, but this was just a strange grip to, well, grip. Completely lost a feel for the face of the putter.

I have one installed with flat side parallel to target line. Its been a game changer.

Just installed the Tak Svelte, and played on Monday. Really gave me sense of where the face was aimed, and I putted better than I have been. Slight change to the balance of the putter from the old grip, so I need a little more time to adjust to that. I like this better than the SuperStoke 2.0 that I took off.

Agree with some of the posts above. I put it on my spider tour with the flat side facing target. Hated it....took grip off after a couple weeks of use. Might try another one with the flat side facing up, would would work really well for a claw grip I feel. Rose seems to have success!

Going to order up a few Flat Cat grips soon just deciding which ones to get. Moving to the claw grip so installing them J.Rose style and see how they work out for me.

Anyone have any luck installing these with an air compressor? Seems like it might be doable, but not sure?

Yep - no problem with the regular FlatCat (not Solution).

BUT - has anyone taken a Solution off using a compressor (or at all)? I got a putter with a FlatCat Solution on BST. I love everything about it, except that the putter is two inches too long...

Anyone use the flat cat with a "prayer" grip? My putting grip style is a modified version of the prayer... thumbs side-by-side on top of the grip with fingers overlapping underneath the grip.

Trying to figure out if I should install it flat-toward-target or Flat-up, a la Justin Rose.

If anyone has any experience using a similar sort of grip style, your input on the grip orientation would be much appreciated!

Sounds like flat side up may be better with that grip, I guess you can always feel it in your hands before you install it.

I have the black flat cat and really like it. But it’s already very much dried out after 2 months. Anyone else experience this?

I've had mine on since late summer and no issues, granted it's never been on the course. Could be a QC issues, maybe contact Flat Cat and see what they can do.

The Solution Big Boy is a hefty 220g, most Triple Track are 365g and I'm not sure what length you play at but the head is going to feel like nothing but the whole putter is going to to be very heavy.

I dont think many people know it exists.  Great grip.
