2018 NBA Season

Recommended Posts

It's kind of funny that most people only seem to value Boston/LA young guys in the scope of if it helps them get Davis LoL

It's the same with Jaylen Brown in Boston.

"He's playing well again, can they trade him for Brow"

It's basically like both groups of youngsters are auditioning for the Pelicans

I get it, it just must be so weird for those guys. Like they want to play well but probably don't want to get traded

In NBA parlance:

The 27-7-7 is known as "the Lebron"

50-40-90 is the Steve Nash

8 for 30 FG's is the Russell Westbrook

4 for 16 FG's with 0 rebounds is the Andrew Wiggins

I hope you guys are ready for excessive homerism on Jamal Murray for the next 3-4 months

At least until RJ Barrett takes over the NBA

Jeff I beleieve you were in fact the last inhabitant on the island for sometime. One truly gets to be the loneliest number floating out on the potential fantasy world that is Wiggins Island

Klay Thompson is strange to me. I feel He requires so much mental support. Like a Kevin love but 10x the player.

I just feel the dynamic of the warriors is how can we get klay more involved or get klay out of a slump. He just seems high maintenance and mentally weak and they are always having to cater to him. And then once a month when he his crazy streaky game everyone makes a huge deal about it

I think Ball's trade value may have taken a serious hit. Having his second season come to an end due to injury just like his first I think may destroy his trade value right when it was starting to rise.

Funny analysis - b/c everything I have ever heard from all sources agree that Klay is the lowest maintenance star in the NBA.

I've always thought Klay was the underrated one. Like on the open market, I think he's more valuable than even Draymond was at his peak. I always ask my basketball friends, like if you just put either Klay or Draymond on say, the Hornets, or the Kings....they're probably better with Klay.

Sometimes I wonder if we're missing out on some crazy season. Like a peak Klay on a smart team with a good point guard. Like I'm not 100% sure OKC is worse if you just swap him with Paul George , who is getting first team all NBA buzz

Klay is not having the best season ever but he has a lightning release and can really defend.

meh every week he is on some streak, either good or bad. is there any player streakier than him?

look at his logs. he's all over the place.

I mean he's an elite spot up 3 point shooter and an elite defender.

I don't think he's an elite player. he's like the best 3 and d guy ever created. he's the ultimate role player. I'm not saying that as a negative because I think 3 and D guys are super important. I agree OKC might not be worse in that scenario.

I wouldn't associate streaky shooting as being someone who's high maintenance - especially since his shooting doesn't affect his defensive effort ever. It is incredibly rare to find a player who can have a cold shooting streak, and yet you still can count on him to provide effort in every other aspect of the game. I think that's part of why everyone considers him low maintenance.

It's always hard being the third guy. Chris Bosh in Miami is the all-time 3rd wheel champion. He was a defensive whiz who transformed his entire offensive game to fit a 2-time championship team , and got mercilessly panned for not rebounding well, even though their schemes took him away from the basket. Some basketball writers questioned his manhood.

Love and Klay have nothing on Bosh. Poor guy was JUST ahead of the style of play and advanced metrics that would have made him beloved

Looks like Victor’s injury is going to be an ugly one. I’m not sure if we turn into buyers, sellers or most likely stick with what we got. Not making changes is always the pacer way. We never are bad enough to tank but we are also never good enough to be one player away from a title. It’s frusterating always playing for next year without ever really getting better

reality for a lot of teams in NBA, kinda weird. either tank or be irrelevant

A couple of teams will probably come out of the woodwork...

I could see Houston offering Capela plus like 4 #1's

The Pelicans are actually in a decent spot. Because whoever trades for Davis gets 2 postseasons with him. So there's decent value, plus the Pelicans can leverage the "act now before Boston or whoever gets the #1 or #2 pick can make an offer"

I mean the Pelicans should actually wait until the offseason, but if someone blows their doors off to try to avoid extra competition. It could be good

Another interesting move would be new Orleans shutting Davis down the rest of the year and trading Randle or holiday or both. I doubt they'd have the balls to do that but it would be interesting. Tank to improve their own draft position , hold Davis out and refuse to trade him until Boston can make an offer

The Zach Lowe podcast today discusses this well. Windhorst actually suggests what I did which is that new Orleans send Davis home and tank, but wait for offseason

They both said they thought Lakers would have to give up all their young players to even have the discussion now , with the exception of maybe Josh Hart
