Since Wilson doesn't specify matte finish in the product description I'd guess no. As opposed to the Duo Professional the colored versions are described as matte on their website.

Isn't the duo lower compression?

I'm interested on the cover of the new ones more than anything else. What made the older 50 elite so good was its ability to hold the green a little better than other cheap balls, might have just been my perception but the cover had an almost sticky / tacky quality to it. Distance was average, feel was ok, but it seems to spin, not to urethane levels, but good for the price.

The 50 has been a pretty popular ball among a lot of folks here because it is a good ball at a good price, and I'm curious how people like the new (and improved??) version. It's only been available for a couple days but I look forward to some opinions about the ball !

+1 Anyone game the new ones, they are coming out in great colors. It doesn't appear to be in matte.

My local shop has them in. Definitely not matte. Very glossy and bright. Remind me in looks of the Volvik Crystal.

The regular Duo is the Duo soft, they just renamed them last year. They are 29 compression. The Duo Spin is 35 compression. The Duo Urethane was 55 compression but it has been replaced by the Duo Professional which is 60 compression.

Keep in mind that there is no industry standard for compression though, and it's really hard to compare compression numbers from one company to the next.

The Pro is a seriously good ball for those that enjoy a softer feeling urethane ball. they fixed some of the issues with their cover getting dingy and the short game touch shots are more consistent than the "U" also has more spin around the greens. I find it to be mid trajectory low spin off the driver - nice penetrating flight. Durable. I like the white, the other colors are nice options to have I could take or leave the matte.

The only issue I have with the pro is the price. Over $40/dz is a bit high for a wilson ball in my opinion. I have played Titleist my whole life until the RZN tour Platinum came out. Now, I did hit the Duo soft this past weekend and was really surprised. Granted, it was only 50 out so I am sure that helped as I was still able to hit my distances that I normally do with my RZN tour Platinum. My first iron shot was a towering baby draw around a tree that dropped right down and stuck about a foot from its pitch mark. I will be curious to see what it does once it gets warmer but for right now its a hell of a ball.

I definitely agree about $40 price point the Duo-U was at last year. But the Duo Pro is $34.99 a dozen. That's the same price as the Bridgestone RXS and the Taylor Made Project(a). It's $5 more than the Q Star Tour. It's the same price (and a better ball) than the Titleist Tour Soft, and $5 cheaper than the Callaway ERC Soft. I think $29.99 would have been a better price point, but I can't say that the price is unfair given the other balls priced in that class.

If you adjust old school mid level ball prices (like Precept MC Spin around $24/doz) for inflation, you get that $35 price the Duo Pro sits at.

Seems reasonable.

We have a golf room at my local YMCA that has a net and a couple mats. I bought a dozen of the 50's to use in the golf room and they are great for there during the winter months when I can't get outside

It's a matter of preference. At one time, I liked a very soft ball. Like the Softfli (29 compression) and SS. Now, a mid compression ball in the 50's to 60 (Bridgestone ExtraSoft or Soft Feel) is preferred in the winter and a little firmer in the summer, like a QST.
