What golf trips do you have coming up?

Recommended Posts

27 days to Palm Desert for me but, then, who's counting?

Up to six inches of snow heading our way for today and tomorrow so I'll be spending the weekend scrolling through photos of past trips to the desert in order to stay mentally strong!

'Just got back from four days in Phoenix. I couldn't have asked for nicer weather.

Next up is LA in three weeks. I haven't booked the rounds yet, but I'll likely play 7 rounds in the area ranging from Simi Valley (Rustic Canyon and Tierra Rejada) to Anaheim (Black Gold).

Just got back from four days in Phoenix.

Nice....which courses & what was your fav?

I played Troon North Pinnacle, Eagle Mountain, Wildfire Faldo, and Southern Dunes. SD was my favorite, although the greens are a little too tough to hold. Eagle Mountain has some great views. Faldo is a solid desert layout with "fun" bunkering. I was a bit disappointed with Troon. Too many par 4's with the same length, and not much of a "wow" factor from many tees. For $289 I expected more.

Do not forget about a round or rounds at The Cradle!

Going to Hilton Head with the family in early April. Not sure I can take the $370 fee at Harbour Town. Checking out the other courses in the area for something challenging and in good shape for a bit less.

If you do want to play Harbor town it might be closed due to the tournament in mid April. If the course is open it might be a little more worth it with the stands being up!

Just home from my week in Palm Springs, and now no golf trips until Thanksgiving in Pinehurst. I am going on a catamaran in the Virgin Islands for a week in May, but no golf involved with that one.

Wow - Thanksgiving ain't exactly right around the corner but I bet the Virgin Islands don't suck!

Any reviews/reports/details of interest from your Palm Springs trip?

Those of us (read "me") that are close to heading out that way are about to explode with anticipation and would greatly appreciate a few crumbs of information to keep "us" from losing "our" minds!

Thanks.

Thanks.

The boat trip is pretty cool, we did it 10 or 11 years ago, 4 couples, plus the captain and crew/chef. All inclusive, except for anything we eat or drink on dry land. I've never taken a big-boat cruise, this is more my style.

Nothing really special from Palm Springs. We played the GC at La Quinta, Silverrock, Eagle Falls, Classic Club, Marriott Shadow Ridge, and Terra Lago North. The weather was cooler than we've seen in the past, with some drippy rain on a couple of days. Courses were all in really good shape, we were with good friends, just a good time.

No real golf trips booked for this year. Have a week vacation planned with the wife in Myrtle Beach in early May. I will probably sneak in 3 - 4 rounds or so while see sleeps in or goes to the beach. Staying in the North area so probably looking at Tidewater, Barefoot Dye, BF Love, BF Fazio, and Grande Dunes. Might have to take the journey down to the south and hit up Caledonia and / or True Blue. Might try to sneak 36 holes in that day!

Might try to sneak up to Pinehurst sometime this year and play Dormie before it goes private and then a combination of the other courses.

Heading down to Savannah in April, first half of the trip is checking out a golf course community called The Landings at Skidaway Island. 6 courses, including a couple designed by Arnold Palmer and Tom Fazio. We'll have to put up with a couple hour "tour" (aka sales pitch), but we're considering it as a winter home candidate anyway. Can't beat $425 for 3 nights including two rounds of golf.
