I didn't want to say anything because of the "friend of a friend" style info, but I live in the DMV area and my buddy somehow ended up playing with Bill Price of TM on Sunday. Bill told him he was in town for the event specifically because Tiger may be switching putters this week and Tiger has tested the Ardmore 3 and Spider Mini. Bill was gaming one of the putters TM sent to Tiger for testing and Tiger rejected. Looks like the Ardmore 3 is in pole position right now. I think Tiger has used other head shapes/putters as training aids before, so who knows what will happen come Thursday.

Mainly because if you cannot hit your current driver 280+ then your SOL for reaching that with a 3 wood.

 

Oh, and just because Tiger, one of the greatest ball strikers in golf history bags a UDI doesn't mean you can hit it.

What grinds would you consider Tiger is playing in his wedges? His 56 looks to be maybe an S and M grind combined and his 60 looks to be an M grind with a blunted edge? I know MT at Artisan did the grinds, Im just curious what its called.

Mike said they now have 39 ish grinds(can't remember exactly) at artisan and he did say which ones tiger had.

I guess that's the only way these days to get a brand new custom set of Mizuno MP-29/MP-14s with an ever so slightly thicker top line, and a touch less camber on the sole. Lovely and serious craftsmanship there. Ah, the perks of being one of the greats!

 

I like the bigger PW (but I'm an MP-33 player). I don't understand why everyone likes these tiny PWs? My MP-33 PW is certainly larger than an MP-18 but my MP-33 PW is almost exactly the same size as a Vokey SM7 which makes an easy transition for me. Why do people want to see a sand wedge with 4-8* more loft a size larger than your PW? Tiger doesn't and I'm with him on that one...

 

The 3 iron looks awesome, but yes, too much club for anyone who doesn't swing the driver 120 mph I would think. I ditched mine a couple years ago for a hybrid. I think Tiger will be able to hit that 3 iron until he's 70. Dude is amazing!

 

And I too am surprised he's sticking with the driver. I would think the M3 440 would appeal to his eye much more?

I've only just noticed Woods has switched shafts from Tensei to Diamana. I see his winning bag from the Tour Championship had the Diamana so he must have made the changed after the PGA Championship and obviously before the Tour Championship.

Maybe it's just me but those irons appear to have more than the standard/normal number of grooves for a blade? Does it look like they are extra close together to y'all?

 

I count 16 groves on his 4-iron. I play MP-18s and my 4-iron is actually up in my office. I just counted its groves and it has 12. I have an old SM5 58* up here, too, and it has 17 grooves--only one more than Tiger's new 4-iron.
