He can't putt because doesn't keep the putter head down the line / close to the ground after impact. He's lifting up. He used to 'push' the ball into the hole. Now he's hitting it.

Has Titleist changed the way they're doing tour issue serials? That TS3 has an "s" where I'd expect to see a "t."

I’d say it’s an early production. Maybe 1st in that loft made. Or 1st in that loft tested to conform ?

 

Judgement made because the 8.5 head pictured in the USga conforming list also has S001 as last digits of the serial.

I'm right there with you. I still use the 915's in driver and 3 wood. I demoed the TS 2 & 3 and a couple of golfing buddies bought them, but for me there was zero difference. In fact, I like the way the 915 driver frames the ball. I did put a Project X Hazardus smoke shaft in mine and it really brought down the spin and flight. No need to change on my end.

Same. I have a 915 D2 9.5 with aldila rogue silver xstiff and NOTHING on the market gives me the same flight, consistency, or feel.

That putter grip once contained magic. Now it appears to contain years of sweat and grime. Someone should remind Jordan that he was excellent with the putter even when it had a new grip.

 

Also, from 915D2 to TS3 is quite a difference in ball flight and spin.

 

Even accomplished Pros are superstitious.

Has their ever been a Spieth WITB thread where people aren't complaining about the condition of his putter grip? I'm not sure about now...but in past years he would swap it out in December and then use the same grip for the next season. If he swapped that one out in December then he sure has put a lot of mileage on it in 30 days time...

Nobody wants to talk about the elephant in the closet: married and living without his long time roommates mini-tour player Alex Moon and PGA Tour player Kramer Hickok. Now he had to change his whole lifestyle, practice and planning. Hopefully he finds it back.

Agreed. I see it all the time. Hence why he needs to be reminded that he was a good putter when he used a new grip, not one that’s quite literally falling apart.

You think that his fiancee didn't spend that much of her time at his house until they married? I get that he said the buddies moved out but I'd be pretty certain that she spent a significant amount of time there in any event.

He's just a head case... But he was a head case that was winning. Has to be easier on himself if he ever wants to get back on top. He's very capable of winning tournaments.

Fine line. I agree he could be easier on himself. But if you give yourself a free pass all the time like Rory you end up doing nothing as well. Those two are at opposite ends of the spectrum and neither is doing what they are capable of.

He was in the 6.0 forever, that's why I was curious if he was playing the 6.5 straight in or soft stepped. Didn't know if anyone here would have the inside info.
