New releases or Superspeed training?

This is a debate I’ve been having with myself for most of the winter. I’m excited by the new release drivers by most companies. In particular Ping and Mizuno. But how much better can they REALLY get?

I’m moving slowly away from low spin high launch rockets to higher spinning fairway finders. And this is what got me thinking.......using the G400 as an example of high(er) MOI but perhaps not as ‘hot’.

Spend more money on G410 to try and squeeze (perhaps) extra technology gains.....or save some dollars buying an older model driver and re invest the cash difference in a Superspeed trainer - investing in myself and increasing swing speed (and ball speed) physically and throughout my bag?! Extra gains all round?!

 

I know what I’m leaning towards - be interesting hearing others thoughts!

Both. I made three of these. It’s just washers, epoxy, electrical tape and three year 2000 graphite shafts I bought off eBay. I emailed super speed and got the weights they use. I can’t remember what they are off the top of my head.

 

All in they were $40

this, super easy to do and then you can use the money you saved on superspeed for a new driver :-)

Make your own sticks. Spend money on a radar, you 100% need it.

 

You will see speed increases and some technical improvement across the bag.

Superspeed isn’t guaranteed to give any on course increase in swing speed, while I am in the minority based on the enormous Superspeed thread, that is certainly my experience with it.

Superspeed without question. You could also make your own or just go swing the Driver as hard as you can, while actively getting stronger. If you are not fitted for your current Driver, there may be some yardage you could gain or dispersion you could lessen, but overall a new Driver is not going to give you 10+ yards over a properly fitted Driver from +/- 5 years ago, if not more.

It's almost always lessons/training over clubs. Unless you're a single digit with 10 year old clubs, odds are you will get more out of coaching and training aids than you would from a new club. Especially a new driver...
