OnOff Kuro 2017 vs Epon af503

Hey guys, big time lurker making first post. It has been a tough golf season for me so far and I am benching my Miura cb501 with recoil 80 f4 irons. I just havent been able to put the time in this year to play my best with them. I used store credit at 2nd Swing Mpls to get a set of PIng G700 with R steel (really need graphite, serious elbow issues dating back to when I was 19), they are super forgiving, launch crazy high (I struggle often with not high enough) but Im just not sure I could really game these for the long haul. First 2 rounds with them, missed quite a few left (usual miss is right). I demoed Epon af303 and af503 at the store - loved both, but never any used options of either available, and new Epons not in the budget. Getting ready to pull the trigger sooner than later on a new(new to me=used) JDM set. I was pretty sure it was going to be the Epon af503 (plenty of options on Rakuten) but the more I read, I also want thoughts on the OnOff Kuro's 2017. Looking for plenty forgiveness, at least plenty more than the cb501's (historically iron play holds me back a little, made it to a 4.5 2 years ago), as well as high launch. Would probably choose something that is not too much like my cb501's; I wont be selling them and can always go back when the time is right - no sense on having 2 similar sets. Thanks for the help!!!

PS - last 2 or 3 years have become absolute JDM junkie. Great stuff!

I've recently tested the Srixon Z745 6i vs Epon 503 6i, shafted with x100sl and 1150gh tour respectively. Both on the course and LM the Z745 won (in regards to feel/distance/launch), even though at address I thought that the 503 'looked' better (thinner top line/less offset).

I'm about to test an OnOff Forged 2011 with Accra Tour 110i TiMesh against the other two. Winner stays in the bag.

I have 2017 kuro forged on off an af 302 epon

On off much easier to hit and feel softer imo....I'll be selling both

Never hit af500 series

On off is a sleeper of a club.....soles bit wide for me but man they are as good as I've hit and not too thin if you need confidence

Also owned srixon 745...on off.are bit easier to hit and feel better but 745 looks thinner so just depends

I've been gaming my 503s for a few years now and never had an issue. Also could never find anything better than them for myself fitted to MCIs. I recently got the Ping i500 though which are different but I felt was enough of an upgrade. I won't sell the 503s though just gonna rotate with them once in awhile. Spent too much on them originally with the crazy shafts to let them go haha

The best thing about the 5s for me were he compact headshape and ridiculous forgiveness/ease of use.

Don't rule out the OnOff 2011 forged models. I had read they were the more forgiving model of the last few renderings. I had a set briefly, super soft, 1/2 a club longer than some other sets I had. Kind of a perfect club, so as per usual I had to sell them. One of my more dumb moves last season.

You could also combo a 5 6 7 of a more forgiving model and use your 501's in the scoring clubs. i200's are getting cheap and are fairly forgiving and arn't as prone to go left as the 700's.

I had a recent Titleist fitting and the pro couldn't beat my OnOff 2011's with the 2018 TM-B's he gave me to try (distance/ball speed)......love it. These aren't going anywhere soon.

That's pretty impressive, thought those TM-B's were supposed to be made for distance/ball speed. Lots have used them for driving irons etc. Saved yourself a ton of cash and you will have minimum thoughts of maybe I should be using something newer. I had a ton of irons and was on a Ping kick [i200's] so a few sets had to go. Don't think I will find another set as nice as those for the price I paid. Will have to keep my eyes and ears open. Hopefully we are not raising the prices of the 2011's with all this talk of grandeur.

Will OnOff be launching a 2019 Kuro iron?

So I was at my local range and the OnOff rep was there for a demo day. I asked him about the possibility of a new Kuro line later this year and he said that he hasn't heard anything about it yet. Not sure if he was keeping it under wraps, or if he truly didn't know, but I'll keep asking their reps when I see them.

a few balls and tees,

tattered golf bag and

one unwavering spirit that loves the game
