Which brand of wedges do you recommend and why

I personally think the CBX 3 and 4 are some of the easiest wedges to hit and they offer enough variation in grind and bounce for you to find your right match. Actually the CBX are the easiest to hit - the RTX 4 is really a “better player” wedge. I just really get along with how they do their grinds I guess - the V-Sole stuff really works for me. (I also like Srixons Z irons too....)

I haven't hit a better wedge than the Callaway wedges. Currently gaming the Mack Daddy 4. But, I am going to pick up a set of the new PM wedges that are due out next month.

 

I love the way they feel and the look at address. I gave the Vokey SM7 wedges a go, but I just keep going back to the Callaways.

Been a vokey player most of my golfing career but I'm thinking about switching to cobra or taylormade. Any thoughts on them?

Genuinely hard to go wrong with Vokey's. I get that the tour guys can pretty much get what they want when it comes to a Vokey wedge but there is a reason why they have been the most played wedge on tour for years now. They are that good. The amount of guys that don't have a bag deal or even where they do and still have Vokey wedges in there tells you all you need to know.

Cally MD4’s for me. Love Vokey’s for pitching & chipping but I hit them a club short on full swings, not sure why....always have & no different with the SM7’s

 

MD4s I pitch & chip just as good, great spin, & I hit them much better on full swings. I hit a lot of full swing wedges so that is important for me.

 

I had all 3 MD4 60* models (S, X, & C) & just went back to the C (from the S) & it’s money. Love these wedges

Either Callaway PM or Taylormade Hi Toe. They are super versatile from straight up full swing to laying them wide open. I don't have a preference between the two but they both line up for me better than any other design!

Miura 1st because the forging is such quality the strikes are so repeatable. Those materials are so tight.

Cleveland 2nd because RTX 2.0’s are awesome and can be had for so cheap.

Up until the middle of last summer I would have said Vokey, but since picking up a set of Cleveland RTX-3's I've been really impressed, having never gamed any Cleveland wedge before.

 

The main difference for me was on full swings, just seems more consistent, with a similar bounce profile With Vokeys there would always seem to be a random one fall out of the sky.

 

I'd give Vokeys a slight edge for around-the-green performance, given their array of available grinds, but not by alot.

I may have missed it but I don't think anyone mentioned Fourteen. Fantastic wedges. I alternate between those and TVDs but there's always a Fourteen of some sort in the bag.

Currently playing Mack Daddy Forged Slate with Modus 120 shafts. I like the finish and square leading edge. Just look really good behind the ball. 50/54/58. Feel nice as they are forged.

 

I also have SM7 54F and 58K. I like them a lot as well. I dont like shafts as much as they are stock dg wedge. Grinds are great.

 

My Edels have been rendered to the closet.

 

Spring will be show down on wedges. Could easily play either and honestly do not know which ones I prefer...

I think that most mid-high hcp players couldn’t distinguish between the major brands. I also think that wedges 10+ years old, which can be had for $20ish, are just as effective as today’s $100+ wedges.

 

Amen! All of the above is why I play forged MacGregor VIP black wedges from 2012. USGA groove legal, soft as butter, and $18 for 52° and 56°

Vokeys... all big name wedges play well in today's market but these just fit my eye more consistently than other brands.

I game a Miura gap wedge and a Scratch lob wedge. The Scratch lob wedge is simply dependable!!!

Ping Stealth 2.0 for me. Did better than SM7 and MD4 in terms of feel and forgiveness. I'd love to try the milled grind wedges and also maybe RTX4's.

I played 3 different sets of Clevelands and moved over to the Mizuno T7s the last 2 years. I just bought the Ping Glide 2.0 stealth wedges for this year and have one 18 hole round in. What I can say for sure is the level of forgiveness is much higher than any previous wedge I have owned and they look great over the ball. I never thought of forgiveness with wedges but it is a real thing and it helps!

I used to be a fan of the Trusty Rusty only because of the name and how it sounded cool (yes lame) but Vokeys are just the best. I like that they are constant and you know what to expect from them. Most of the other OEM's keep changing their wedges design. If I was going to change it will be to Callaway Mackys

I've always been a Ping wedge player. The Glide 2.0 Stealth is outstanding. That said, the Glide forged is the best looking, best feeling wedge I've ever tried. Pricey, but awesome.

 

Another one for Ping Glide 2.0 stealth. Just like butter.
