The Ryder Cup task force is hoping he will change his citizenship and play for Europe at Whistling Straits. Will make pairings easier for the captain.

While they're at it they can bring back the ping-pong tables and funny memes and continue to lose by 10.

Wow, you guys know my feelings about Patrick, ie., I like he and Justine a lot, however compared to the other three Americans on the list, is he not a tad light on the hardware?

I mean that's great and hats off to him for the honor thiufgim just surprised as he also is a tad light on his PR team, his rep, etc. though they obviously felt that he was worthy, so that's fantastic!!

May he enjoy continued success!!

Cheers

What is the source on that Arnie, Jack, and Tom photo? The signatures look off and I'm curious as a collector.

So, I clicked on the photo from the googly image search I did and here it is

Looks like you can pick it up for 4 hundy.

Youd have to add the Reed pic though ; )

This seems extremely silly, but only slightly more silly as giving a then 74-ish year old the same “honor.”

This is one of oddest decisions in a while.

I can be happy for Reid but there some legendary names that haven’t received this honor and Reed is way early in his career.

Does he have some sponsor that is also a major supporter of the Euro Tour???.

I would have thought Jim Furyk's Ryder Cup record would have gotten him EU Tour honors by now.

It is genuinely like Keith Pelley set a dare to the employees at the European Tour of coming up with something as equally unpopular as the Tour playing an event in Saudi Arabia and someone came up with this.

The Jack signature doesn't look good to me and I'm fairly certain on the Watson as well. That means the Palmer is bad as well.

The J in Jack and the transition to the a doesn't look right. And the N in Nicklaus is off and the transition to icklaus is way off.

The COA is one the company did themselves. If real, they would have wanted to get PSA or JSA to authenticate it and get most $$$$ for it.

You pretty much get the honourary life membership when you win a major and compete full time of the ET.

It is nothing special.

But you have to give credit to Reed for playing on the ET full time, given most Americans don't even bother.

He probably enjoys it a lot of more than all the drama he has to deal with on the PGA Tour.

But you have to give credit to Reed for playing on the ET full time, given most Americans don't even bother.

Reed has never played the ET "full time". Outside of majors/WGC events he plays few standalone ET events.

4 ET events in 2018 & 2015. 3 ET events in 2016 & 2017. 1 ET event in 2016 and 2014. No ET events prior to 2014. So how do those numbers qualify as playing "full time on the ET" as your words state?

Your statement is an insult to the ET players that actually do play full time on the ET. If the spineless ET granted Reed a lifetime honorary membership they need to also bestow that honor on Kristoffer Broberg. Who is that? An ET player that actually won an ET event on the continent. Beating Patrick Reed in a playoff in 2015. Broberg was a full time ET player in 2015.

I meant to say he plays enough tournaments which includes WGC and majors (which you forgot to include) to maintain his ET "full time" membership.

Reed only took membership in 2015 by the way.

His commitment to the ET is obviously more than most other top US players.

I mentioned WGC/majors in my post. It's a complete joke that he was granted lifetime membership on the ET when more accomplished players have not. Especially when the event Reed won was in the USA.

LOL, Reed's announcement against the backdrop of this event just seemed to be a mismatch made in heaven.

Pelley needs to go back to peddling his super 6 stuff (still recall him getting a chance to talk a few months ago and making a shameless plug for the NCAA to adopt his model for its match play championships - I thought the pandering was shameless).

Having said that, I really enjoy the Euro Tour and coverage and leaving the majors out of the equation since they stand on their own, in a year I watch more Euro Tour coverage than PGA Tour coverage - I enjoy the announcers, the players and it doesn't interfere with my golf during the golf season. Now with the PGA getting moved to spring, after The Open Championship I doubt I'll watch any golf at all except Euro Tour golf the balance of 2019 unless Tiger is making a good showing or some other unusual buzz, and if I'm golfing that day, I'll tape that.

I hear you, if you are an outcast or international pariah, come to the European Tour, look we even made Patrick Reed and the Saudi's feel welcome. Not sure it is the calling card that the Tour needs but it's something at least.

Agreed on the Euro Tour looking like it will be a strong watch after The Open. Some good events on some good courses. I have the flip side of the issue you have though. With the timings, it is always the US Golf that I tend to watch simply because I am out golfing when the European stuff is on.
