So, living in Utah I could pay $25 per month and play coto de caza in orange county for like $30 dollars? Bears best for cart fee? How long are you committed for?

Yes. From what I understand, the commitment is for a year.

Year commitment unless you pay the initiation fee, which is more than the year commitment.

Is it weird that i e-mailed them a week ago and haven't had a response yet? Are they typically responsive or more preferred over the phone? I love to travel for golf, and this seems like the perfect answer to motivating me to do trips

Not sure who or what department you are trying to email. However, for existing members they are always very responsive. When I call or e-mail I always get a reservation (golf or dining) either that day or the next. Great program and I am an active business traveler who was been in the program for about a year.

So pardon my ignorance, but is there an online web registration to sign up? When i go to the registration page, it just has a contact us form. So how did you all register?

Also, in the contact form, it says "Desired Club" pull down, and i'm not sure what that means.

I wish I had read this thread sooner. I looked into it and called CCT today and the gal who helped me was great and answered all of my questions.

I'm definitely signing up as I live in a $25 a month state and there are lots of clubs in vacation and family areas I can visit. Also a couple of clubs I can use for business purposes. (You can book up to two foursomes back-to-back. You'd get the cart fee, others would be charged the guest fee).

They are currently waiving the $1,000 initiation fee. I don't know if that's been waived for quite a while or not, but the gal I spoke to thought it might be ending February 8th but that she wasn't 100% certain of.

This is a great fit for me. Lots of good public golf around home with access to the CCT nationwide network when I travel.

From what I remember you’re committed for the first year and can cancel any month after first year.

  • 2 weeks later...

I think it's per club. I've been mostly happy although I thought they pulled a bait and switch at Firestone...to play the tournament course you had to get lodging and/or pay a high green fee. Also, some of the Canada clubs seemed to make you pay the difference between what Club Corp reimbursed and the standard guest fee.

It's stated on their where you can play list about access to the south course.

Which courses in Canada did you have an issue? I played Glen Abbey and another in Toronto without a problem.

No tee times available at Glen Abbey for the 5 days I was in Toronto, but played a couple other courses there and Montreal. Fees were always higher than what my confirmation said they would be in local currency...not by a lot except 1 course (Islesmere, IIRC)...that course ended up letting me walk which was only a bit more expensive than the cart fee I was told in the confirmation.

Where do they tell you about the South course? I mostly rely on http://clubcorp.uberflip.com/i/706860-aci-clubcorptravel-networkguides-0918/16?

Page 15 simply says Firestone CC (no *) and I don't see any conditions about them on p. 19 either.

Glen Abbey is tough to get on. Everyone wants to play the course.

Do you get the Private club magazine they put out every season. I get one in the mail every four months and you can usually pick one up in the pro-shops. It says pay to play access on the south course. It also states access other clubs you pay to play such as Haig point. I'm taking advantage of that one in two weeks.

Also that list is old and outdated. The magazine has updated courses and restaurants.

Just signed up to the Travel membership and played in Phoenix 2 weeks ago, and last weekend in Palm Springs

Anthem- Pesimmon and Seville in Phoenix, along with Veraddo -Founders, Phoenix CC, and CC at Johnson Ranch.

Mission Hills, Palmer course in Palm Springs. ( Also Played Andulsia which was terrific, and Eagle Falls, which I like a lot)

The travel desk were super helpful to get tee times.

Everyone and courses were very nice and accommodating.

One of the members I played with at Seville was not very happy and he believed it diminished his membership and even felt his membership costs were to supplant the Travel division costs. He was nice about it, just voicing his opinion.

Courses were good, not great, but I would play there again if I'm back in that town.

I maybe agree that these are often not top 100 courses, but they seem to be very well kept and for the cost, extremely playable.

I would also note that my only 4.5+ round of these was Eagle Falls, public course. All others were played sub 4 hrs. Also of great value to me.

Overall, very happy with this decision to join.

Glad to hear you are getting to use your membership. As far as the member that thought it devalued his membership, I think he has it a bit backwards. Everyone knows Clubcorp typically is not your premiere course and typically have a lot of members compared to other private courses. I am a member of a Clubcorp course and one of the reasons I joined was because of the travel benefits. I can either play more courses on a trip without adding much cost to the trip. Or I can go to places like Dallas or Atlanta for a cheap golf trip. He honestly sounds like a few of our members who don't want to pay for an ultra private course but expects ours to act like one. I hope the next time you get paired up with a member who is grateful you came to their club to play a round.

The clubcorp members that are upset about travel members crack me up. There are exceptions where owners wanted to cash out, but in most cases when clubcorp buys a club, it was probably struggling to stay independent. Without those travel members your private club would likely have gone public or folded. As you said, if you want an exclusive private club, don't join a clubcorp course because you're basically joining a semiprivate.
