Has anyone looked closely at the M5 face and noticed any sharpie markings? I see like four sharpie dots (looks dark red) at different parts of the face. Any explanation for this?

That totally stinks to hear. Good for TM but bad for a lot of us who had sticks on order.

 

I read a lot of threads on here, do you have things on order from every company or just use “I’m ordering that” in a more hypothetical sense?

Not sure what this question has to do with this thread but I’ll answer it anyway. I had a EFSZ on order but cancelled it after seeing and hitting it at GG. M5 Tour and Rocket fwy is currently on order but the date keeps getting pushed back which is a concern. I may order the new PXG driver but trying to hold off until the weather breaks so I can get fitted outside by the PXG fitter in my area. If the Ping Blueprint irons come out they will ordered site unseen, same with the P7TW irons. Crystal clear now?

Those dates are a est time of when the product would be available to build if ordered today. If you have an order in the system already, you may see delivery sooner. Happens with every golf company, not just TM. Heads , shafts, and grips all go on backorder at some point.

This was my first time hitting the M5 5w, everything is bone stock. The GD AD-IZ6 in my signature hasn't arrived yet. Also, this wasn't even tee'd up.

Sound and feel are fantastic, great dispersion, sits nicely behind the ball, and is really easy to hit. This thing is the real deal! :drinks:

Likely a manufacturing process step...probably QC checks.

I don't have mine in hand yet to see where the dots are at, but I know that as a part of the resin injection process they measure the speed of the face before injection and again after. These could presumably be related to those checks.

Wats your ss with a driver? Those numbers are impressive with a 5 wood , did you hit the 3 wood against it?

Not worried about felt pen. Was told it shouldn't be there and confirmed that by looking at other faces at PGA Superstore. It is probably just a QC issue and should have been wiped off before being finished.

Kind of high on spin right? I hit this in the store and really liked the feel, felt fast, and good sound, good looks. I cant really trust the monitors in most shops for spin to judge, but I was thinking I would pick one up, however, Newton is not a high spin guy, and for him to be at 4000 is high right? He admittedly does not like hitting fairway woods though. What is everyone seeing with this 3 wood compared to your gamers? Nothing has beat my g400 fairway yet...

 

Thinking of throwing in a hzrdus black 75 6.5 or diamana white LTD 80x in this...

Yeah....he mentioned not "his" best shaft, so a lower spin shaft would help.

Felt pen marks on the face have typically been on tour issue heads, they are used for testing (can’t remember if it was cor or one of the other measurements). They will come off after some use.

I don't know what my swing speed is with a driver. When I'm hitting it well, I'd guess its going around 275-285. Which is pretty good for a 5'6" 150 lb guy that's never had any lessons!

The only reason I haven't hit the 3wood is because I'm so accustomed to having a 5w in the bag.

At some point, I plan on trying the rocket 3w as a potential driver replacement since I'm more comfortable hitting a fairway wood. Maybe its the smaller head, maybe it's the lie angle, or maybe I'm just mental.

"Me and my golf buddy are usually the same distance but after buying this driver this week I've been like 20 yards further all day!" is pretty much my favorite driver review metric. I base all buying decisions off of it.

 

Same. Hitting it farther than my playing partners is all that I care about really lol

Went through a fitting and narrowed it down to the M5 in either the Mitsubishi Tensei Orange and Evenflow Blue... I loved the numbers of the orange but then realized that’s what they put in the model off the shelf and wondered if I should have gotten better looks at other options. Anyone have thoughts or reassurances on those shafts?
