Anti-hook, low spin driver

It's funny because, you are using what has been widely considered one of the best drivers put out by Taylormade.

Fix your swing, not your driver. You'll do the same thing with another driver unless it promotes more spin.

A new driver is a band aid.

I hear you. My misses overall are left, but I'm a pretty good stick who is aging and don't currently have a ton of time on my hands to really get better. I was a +2.5 or so at one point (not any more), so I doubt I'm going to really improve much. Just looking to optimize my equipment to best suit my common miss....left. Hence the request for suggestions from my wrx people who may have more knowledge and may suffer the same as me.

I hear ya, brother. No offense intended at all. Hope none taken.

I'm a huge advocate (as well as most pros, fitters and coaches) for us amateurs and low / high cappers alike to LOFT UP, get more spin (2200 - 2400 depending on swing speed) and ideally, make sure you have the right shaft and right club head and your gamer ball with yuo at the time of being fit.

When you start looking at low low spin drivers then, you will find your slices hard over right and your draws hard hook left. Ya you'll get the 1/10 immaculate shots that will roll out 360+ yards but, I'd take consistency any day. Hence, why I went M6, EF white, and play Nike RZN Tour / TP5 Balls. I know what I'm hitting and I'm much better for it.

"Shots that role out at 360+" ;/

Agree with your philosophy here, but averaging 2200-2400 is a very low spin target point, nothing high spin about those numbers. Unless your bringing 170+ ballspeeds, you don't want to live any lower than that. 2500 is a better average target for the mid/high capper. That way, the very high toe shot isn't a 1200rpm knuckle falling out of the air 50 yards left.

I've got an opportunity to snag a 8.5 g400 LST with a GD ad MT-7x for a pretty dang good price. Brand

new (or like new) for a song and a cup of coffee. Should I pull the trigger? Why as a grown Word not allowed man do I seek approval of other grown Word not allowed men? Lol :cheesy:

Sometimes you just have to say WTF

Search is on for a driver best suited to me. Currently playing a JDM TM SLDR with Matrix OZIK 7m3 xflex. When I'm on with it, its pretty good, but I think I might be missing the boat a bit with forgiveness. I'm 6'2", with about 110 SS, with several more mph on standby when needed and a pretty good transition. Getting a little older (late 40's), but still play pretty well, maybe 2-3 handicap. Being a baseball player in my younger days, I always found my miss to be left, and sometimes get a case of the snaps. I'm guessing something low spin and anti left, if it exists. G400 LST? Epic SZ? M3 440? I'm open to suggestions. I'd of course prefer something used to keep cost down, and keep the wife happy. Thanks in advance.

The 2015 SLDR-C is certainly an anti-hook Driver. It has a dead square face and is extremely forgiving and yet it's still low spin, just to a lesser degree than the original SLDR's. Understand that the 'C" is an entirely different clubhead than the original SLDR Drivers despite having a very similar look. There is also no need to 'loft up' like there was with the original SLDR's, so I recommend the lowest 9.5* loft for a better player like yourself. Of course, all the new ones are long gone now, but there are used ones available on ebay at great prices...it's a great head, just install the right shaft for you!

Additionally, (or as an Alternative Solution), I suggest applying 'The SLDR FIX' to your current JDM SLDR Driver. It will significantly reduce that driver's tendency to hook! Just click on the link below and scroll down to Post #77 for the full instructions, complete with illustrations, on how to apply 'The SLDR FIX'.

Let's not forget to point out to the OP about the "design flaw" with the SLDR. I think there were extensive threads about it, but if I recall, wasn't the adapter causing it to be way too weight biased towards the heel resulting in a lot of lefts? I think guys were replacing a weighted toe screw or something to offset it. Regardless, the SLDR is one of the longest and lowest MOI heads produced. Nameless options are gonna help bump up MOI and anything really flat is gonna be as anti-left as your swing allows.

No head is gonna correct a snap hook swing flaw, but there are some great options. I know a few guys mentioned it, but the King LTD Pro is about as flat and anti-left as they get. I mean big time.

The 2013-2014 Retail SLDR Drivers were 'heel heavy', and that 'imbalance' often resulted in low hooks' with the club. Indeed the 'low hook' is frequently cited as the most common 'miss' with the original SLDR driver. The toe screw and heavier metal cover plate used on the Tour'issued SLDR's helped to counteract the imbalance and the hooking problem. The 'SLDR FIX' does the same thing but to an even greater degree for the Retail Models. Once the SLDR clubhead is properly counter-balanced by adding weight on the toe side, very near the perimeter, then the SLDR becomes more forgiving, and that 'low hook miss' that just seems to come out of nowhere, (even on good swings), can be eliminated. That is not to say that a player is never to blame at times Obviously, people will make bad swings, however, the original SLDR Driver was 'hook prone' and unforgiving which tended to magnify even the slightest of swing errorsh.

Note: The shaft/hosel adapter used on the original SLDR weighed in excess of 7.5 grams and is therefore partially to blame for the club being 'heel heavy'. Of course the club's weight being so far forward also contributes to the club being much less forgiving than other Drivers that have more weight placed towards the rear of the clubhead. However, at least you now know a 'fix' for these problems exists. A link to 'the fix' instructions was posted earlier in this thread.
