If you are playing public courses get on the Nicklaus Tournament. Trilogy is ok. Silver Rock is pretty used to be good.

Plantation and the Quarry if you have private hookups.

Fixed that for you.

have fun and play well. Be prepared for the only flat parts of the course to be the tee boxes at PGA west stadium. Course is in great shape.

PGA West Stadium is relatively flat compared to Nicklaus Tournament. Stadium has surprisingly small greens on a number of holes and can sucker you into going at the flag when the fat part is where you need to hit it.

Love the Palm Desert area. You will really enjoy it.

I have always wanted to play some of those desert courses. I've heard some good things about the Nicklaus course and The Quarry at La Quinta. But I think the Quarry is private.

You'll have a blast. I like both courses at Desert Willow, Firecliff is a little tougher if I remember right. Eagle Falls is nice, and reasonably priced. Terra Lago's North Course is pretty good too. I still enjoy Silverrock, although I'll agree that the changes were mostly for the worse. Enjoy the warmth!

Played Eagle Falls last week.

Course in great condition.

Also look at Underpar.com for some pretty good options.

I played The S club and Nicklaus Courses at very good deals.

Also Andulusia, but had hookup for that private course. Super nice.

When you fly in , if you look out the window , you'll see the number of courses there. Its awesome.

I love the palm trees and snow capped peaks surrounding you. Very, very, pretty area of the country.

Enjoy.

I am very excited, and this is just the beginning, folks closed on a winter place that sits right on Monterrey CC in December, so always have a free place.

We are looking at doing a guys trip in November's before they head out for the winter, then visit with the family in February.

Thanks for all the tips on courses, you guys always come through.

my brother's back probably won't let him get through one this fall, and my cousin may be going in for rotator cuff surgery, we may have a spot or 2 in November.....

If you have a choice, grab a window seat on the left side of the plane. When you approach Palm Springs, depending on the flight path, the plane banks to the left as it goes over the San Andreas Fault. It looks like you can just reach out and touch the mountain tops. And it also gives you the best view of the golf courses that border the Santa Rosa Mtns.

Ah!! My family had a vacation place at Monterrey on the tee of 4 East for 30 years. Drive by 429 Sierra Madre North and wave hello for me.

I passed my PAT there in 1994. Good memories. My Family all ended up moving east and we just didn’t use it enough anymore. My Mom Sold it 8 years ago. I never imagined I’d miss it so much until my 4th or 5th year in Ohio. Boy I miss it.

Just came back from Superbowl weekend. Classic Club is in awesome shape (as usual), Escena right by the airport is a real nice course, and Eagle Falls never disappoints for $95. We did 2 rounds at Mountain Vista with the Underpar.com coupons, and for a nice easy warmup round, I would recommend the Santa Rosa course. All holes are shaped like a big U with hills on both sides, so it's pretty hard to lose a ball there. The San Gorgino course is flatter and not as forgiving.

Have fun!

I love Classic Club. Easily on my Top 5 all time, and my favorite course in the PS area. I had the opportunity to play Plantation when I lived there, and it was ok...didn’t seem like a whole lot of variety going back and forth through the date palms...

Thursday morning booked at Desert Willow, just not sure which course he did.

It sounds like 3 great courses and some sun.

It was time. It has been 8 years since I have been able to take a vacation and leave my work at home, not even taking a laptop or tablet.

Unplugged a bit.....

Having played both the La Quinta Mountain and Classic Club in the past 12 months, I'd stay with your current booking. Some of the holes at the Mountain are unlike anything else I've ever played with respect to beauty. Classic Club is a good test of golf, though - if you don't have a windy day; then as I understand it, it can be unplayable.

That’s funny. I passed my PAT at Monterey CC.

I’ve said it before, Indian Wells CC is my favorite in the desert. Very fun, classic old club. Good holes. If you stay at Indian Wells Resort Hotel they can get you on and their suites are very nice!

Thanks for the feedback on Mountain. I will stick with current booking. I have seen a few photos and it does look stunning. Can always play Classic on a subsequent trip.

Sadly, my folks had to stop going to California as of two years ago. Starting when my oldest daughter was still in high school, annual March visits to Palm Desert were the highlight of my winters. Wife and other daughter would go to the tennis tourney at Indian Wells, just awesome memories playing with my daughter and my dad, and doing things as a family, including simply just sitting and enjoying the weather. No doubt you'll take full advantage of the opportunity and it's awesome.

Have played Classic Club twice and loved the experiences. We would get there early, enjoy the range, cash in our food credit and eat a bit and head out. Usually a threesome when we played, but had a really nice guy from Canada join with my dad, my daughter and I one year (lots of friendly Canadians in the desert). So many things to do out there, IMO, but for me, mostly golf, practicing golf and picking a nice restaurant for (usually) outdoor dining in the evening. Just loved the place!

Indian Wells golf is fantastic, the Mountain View and Firecliff at Desert Willow are great (Firecliff more so for me, and it has a great range - good ranges are harder to come by than you would think). I usually don't say much positive about Eagle Falls - now in fairness, the day we played a few years ago was a day I should have called a timeout on golf and just gotten some rest. Couldn't keep the ball in play, played terrible and was a little grumpy, lol. As a group we had a good time, but mostly because the other two were riding me for about three hours - no pity parties allowed in our group!
