I know Tiger loves Riviera, but I think this is a tournament that he should skip.

This is a Tiger Woods Foundation event. Kinda hard to skip your own tournament.

It is astonishing that he has talked about how much riviera fits his eye and how he loves it but that he always seems to play awful there. I’m right there with you tiger, I don’t get your struggles there either.

The reality is Tiger has played Riviera better than most think. He missed the cut last year. Compare that to his other results at Riviera. He actually played well there. Just never won. Facts.

Tiger has never played Riviera well, even back in his days as a junior golfer or even his collegiate matches and tournaments. It doesnt make sense because he know how to play kikuyu grass and although it favors a fader, he has never posted 4 great rounds there..He can say all he wants that it fits his eye, but the results say something different

I was shocked to read the alternative BS in this thread on his record at Riviera. Not stella by his standards but certainly not..."never" played well.

His standards are winning, especially during those years. Like when Elin wanted to throw a victory party and he was like we’re supposed to win. While the numbers aren’t terrible, he’s dominated certain venues like Torrey, Firestone, Bay Hill yet never got the W in his peak at Riviera. You can look it up, Tiger has been quoted as playing awful at Riviera, and not just his missed cut. I doubt he would have played there last year or even this year if it wasn’t linked to his foundation.

Bubba or JT for the win, although JT's record here isn't great. I think his T9 last year is his best result.

My outside pick would be Danny Willett.

I don't see Molinari in the field, according to his own website he was scheduled to play here.

He hasn't played anywhere since the TOC.

Danny Willett seems to play more in PGA tour nowadays compared to European Tour, is he following Poults steps?

Supposedly he's got a home in Orlando now I think that is his primary base. Plans to play a full schedule on PGA Tour but retaining his ET card by playing enough events there.

Can hardly wait for Riveria, one of my favourite events to watch all year.

I'm going with Justin Thomas to figure well. First in strokes gained tee to green should work pretty well around Riveria.

I thought Phil said he was going to skip Riviera.........

https://www.golfdigest.com/story/phil-mickelson-changes-his-schedule-again-will-reunite-with-tiger-woods-at-genesis-open

I thought so, too, but apparently not.

I just figured Genesis was just as excited as the OP to get something going before Pebble was over they were carrying an "eligible" list of some kind.

If Phil wins, will be interesting to see if he has anything in the tank for this week.
