Vokey 60.08M --> TM High-Toe 60?

Really like my 60.08M grind, but it's about ready for some fresh grooves after several seasons of use. Love the versatility of the M grind, but wondering if I"m missing out on anything with the TM High-Toe.

The M grind can be pretty unforgiving on soft turf and anything more than partial shots. What do I have to lose in making the switch from others that have.

Open to opinions here, any comps at all would be very helpful.

Recently got a TMAG 60* Hi-Toe and so far I really enjoy it. Very easy to manipulate the head and hit different shots. The unusually high toe is a bit awkward to look down at first, but it didn't take long to get used to it. I would say it has similar shape to a PM grind Cally wedge.

you mean the square sole version?

What is this? This somehow slipped under my radar. They have one with a straighter leading edge?

I think he's referring to the "4-way camber" sole grind as opposed to the ATV grind which was initially the only grind offered.

Anyone have comparisons on the 4-way vs. the ATV?

I have the 4 camber version and my friend uses the ATV version of the high toe. To me, the 4 camber version is a bit easier to work around the green. Full shots seem very similar to me.

How about bunker performance? Any notable difference?

I switched from the M Grind to the Hi Toe ATV. Bunker shots are so easy it's like cheating. Full shots are marginally easier and the biggest surprise is the extra spin on bad strikes. Where I preferred the M Grind was on chips and shorter pitches. It's really easy on soft ground to hit the Hi Toe slightly fat with the ATV sole. I'm a really good chipper so it's not bad technique. Honestly thinking of dropping my 52* and adding a 64* hi toe (bunker and flops). 60* M Grind (short chips and pitches), 54* sand wedge (chips, pitches and long 30+ yard bunker shots).

In case you're (or anyone!) still monitoring this thread, were you suggesting the Hi Toe ATV sole tends to dig in soft ground even more than the M Grind? That's a weakness of the M Grind, IMO. The M Grind shines, however on firm conditions. It's decent out of wet/hardpacked sand but not great from fluffy sand. I wonder if the Hi Toe ATV handles those sand consistencies better?

OP here - interesting this thread popped back up given I went in another direction just this week with the purchase of a Vokey D-grind. Rewind 9 months - I ended up going with the Hi-Toe ATV grind last August and have gamed in since. Out of the bunker and nasty lies, the ATV is like cheating. It digs easily, but slides easily if that makes since. It doesn't dig and keep digging. That makes it great for bunkers and crap lies, but from anywhere else I struggle with it.

Combine that with the high-CG placement due to the Hi-Toe design and I definitely get some weird results from anything but a perfect strike on pitches and chips. So odd considering how consistent I could be pitching and chipping the M-grind. The only downfall of the M-grind was the bunker play and soft conditions play. With the Hi-Toe, I solved that problem but created another, so I've been primarily using my 54 for greenside work. Overall, been pretty disappointed and for me the Hi-Toe was a flop. In fact, for simulator sessions I go straight back to M-Grind since there is no bail-out advantage with the Hi-Toe in those situations.

Fast forward to now, I pulled the trigger on an SM7 D-grind and I'm hoping offers the best of both worlds - great versatility for pitches and chips around the green like the M-grind, but a little more protection in fluffy bunkers and soft conditions due to the added bounce. It arrives tomorrow, so time will tell!

Only one round in - but as you can see my sig has been updated. Very impressed with the D-grind so far. It actually has more trailing edge and heel relief than the M-grind, so it is just as easy to manipulate. However, added bounce really just makes it so much more forgiving. It has been the wettest May on record here in Chicago, so you can imagine the soft conditions and it performed very well in them. The M-grind would be a no-go and would not have come out of the bag in these conditions in the past. Most of the sand was fairly wet, so didn't really get to see how it performed in "fluffy" sand which is the enemy of the M-grind, but it was a good performer in these wet-sand conditions.

Also, the strike location forgiveness is back with the D-grind in comparison to the Hi-Toe. I'm much more comfortable using it for greenside chips/pitches. So far so good!
