Shaft upgrade M2 driver

J. Breeze

Recommended Posts

Newcomer here on the boards,

Currently gaming my 16' M2 w/ stock fujikura and looking to upgrade.

Considering these options:

Aldila rogue silver 60s

Aldila tour green 65s

Diamana S+PLUS

GD AD DI or IZ

Swing speed ranges 98-105mph w/ smooth tempo. Any of you that have gamed any of the shafts above in their m2, would really appreciate your feedback.

TIA

Rogue Silver, Tour Green and AD-IZ are stiffer tipped - lower launching shafts.

S+ and AD-DI are more mid-launching shafts (and Aldila equivalent would be the Rogue Black or Tour Blue).

Some people prefer a little higher launching shafts in their fairways but that's really subjective and doesn't take into consideration what your personal preferences for feel might be. Until you get out and start demoing some shafts with various profiles, it's impossible to say anything more about what might work better for you or if you'll get any improvement at all over the stock shaft.

Just keep in mind (since you didn't address it at all in your post), that shaft weight is actually generally much more important than the various stiffness profiles.

I currently play a KK in my M2 but wish I still kept my rogue silver 60. A little more demanding but i had some of my best driving rounds with it. I had the Tour green in my 3 wood but wasn’t a big fan. Felt a little loose to me.

Titleist TR2 - Graphite design DI

Titleist Tsi2 - 15*

Callaway Apex 20*

Srixon ZX 7 4-PW

Cleveland Zipcore 54* & 58*

Appreciate the input Stuart, was searching for something in the 60-65g range w/ mid launch.. Actually gaming the tour blue in my 3w and have been pretty happy with it. I understand shaft preferences are quite subjective and vary quite drastically at times from person to person, but just wanted to see what the majority were gaming and hoping to find something that will work for me among those options.

I’ve got the m2 ‘17 with a white tie 55. I like a heavier shaft and am also looking to upgrade. Why don’t you like the stock Fuji?

Felt a bit too "loose" for my liking... Although it was more to do with pilot error, dispersion was quite poor and the shaft felt easy to overpower...

If you like the tour blue (I also like that one in my fairways), no reason not to stick with it - or maybe if you want to experiment for something newer just for fun, you could try the Rogue black or even the 2kxv blue. To me they are all basically interchangeable - only minor differences. I've also used the Rogue silver with success - but I don't have the latest release during the swing so the increase in tip stiffness doesn't effect me much at all.

Just realize that the Tour Blue 65 - is really more of a 70 gm shaft than a 65 gm shaft. The Tour Blue 65 Stiff is 69 gm, the X is 71 gm (for the 65). It's the same with the Rogue black and silver 60. On the other hand the 2kxv is on the other end. The 2kxv blue 60 stiff is 61 gm so yuo'd probably want to go up to the 70.

Dont sleep on the Tensei Pro Range of shafts....I have a similar swing speed to you and had the '17 M2 with the Tensei Pro White 60S and it was a great combo. If you dont want that low of spin check out the Tensei Pro Blue more of a Mid Spin/Mid Launch whereas the White is Low Spin/Low launch

Tensei PB has definitely been on the radar, heard a lot of positive feedback.

I had the AD DI 6 in my M2 and it was a great club. One of those I wish I hadn’t gotten rid of.

Lefty,

Mind sharing your SS/tempo? Upon lurking the boards here regarding the DI, recently discovered that many have stated the DI6 felt quite loose and noodle like... Was curious what shaft the DI would compare to or share similar characteristics with.

I tried the KK, DI 6s and the stock Fuji 60s before getting fitted for an Accra fx260 or 240, can’t remember

My ranking

Accra

Fuji

Di6s

KK

My SS is similar maybe a little higher. Distance was probably a little better with the Fuji, but the Accra was much more accurate
