Colorado WRX 2019

Random question, but anyone considering a ball change this year? Or at least trying something different out?

The $30-$40 a dozen balls seem to be my sweet spot, but there are so many options in that price range now. Really impressed by the Tour Soft despite it being a 2 piece. I’m intrigued by the new ERC despite those goofy lines. Played the project a for most of last year and really liked them.

Will still likely use either Chrome Soft or TP5 for “important” rounds.

I got 4.75 dozen QSTs for this year. I really want to give the Snell black a try though.

I’ll look and see if I have any more. If I do I’ll get you a sleeve to try.

Awesome, thanks. I might be able to help you out with that 14 way UA bag too.

FRGC has put out a partial schedule. From what was written, May 11 will be the first event of the season. Looks like they're trying to fill in one or two dates in July as well as the rest of August and September.

May 11th: Indian Peaks

May 19th: Common Ground

June 2nd: Legacy Ridge (new for 2019)

June 9th: Red Hawk Ridge (Major #1)

June 23rd: Murphy Creek

June 30th: Fossil Trace

July 7th: Hyland Hills

August 4: Fox Hollow (Ryder Cup - all 27 holes)

I also just e-mailed The Ridge at Castle Pines North. The marketing guy immediately replied saying they might have a shamble tournament on April 20. If it happens, it will be announced within the next month.

All the top balls are going to be within a couple yards distance wise these days unless you've got either an under 90 mph swing speed or pro swing speed. You've got to chip and putt with them to see what you like the feel and reaction of around the green and then play a round to see if the flight window is what you want.

I've still got about 7 dozen of the 4 piece ksigs, so it'll be years before I'm looking again. Before that I would try a sleeve each year of some top balls with tournament club shop credit winnings and keep in mind the ones I liked and buy them cheap two years after the new models come out. Doing that you're usually paying $15-25 or so a dozen.

The Snell balls are really good too if you need something this season. Buy the MTB 6 red/6 black test pack and then buy 6 dozen of what you like and you'll be in for under $30 a dozen and not missing anything compared to other balls.

Vice Pro Plus has been the ball for me for a few seasons now, and I can't see myself switching any time soon. I have few dozen E6 for when it's really cold out or I just feel like it'll be a day where I'm donating a few balls to nature, but the Pro Plus is excellent, especially when you can get 5 dozen for $125...and they occasionally toss in another dozen or a hat for free.

That said, if I had to switch, I'd go to the TP5x. The few I've hit have been super, but I do agree that most **premium** balls perform about the same, so it's up to the look/feel around the greens that matters most to me.

I found a sleeve with two new ones. I had them marked with a line and a couple of dots (must have played them in a tournament at some point). I put them in my car, next time we get hooked up I’ll get them to you.

Man, I'm jonesing to play so bad. I did book flights to Atlanta to go visit my folks in Alabama in late March. We're there Thursday-Wednesday and I'll likely play at least 5 rounds. So that's something...but man, I'd sure love to play before then.

Totally understand..! Have one round (Highland Meadows) and zero range time so far this year....all is about to change tomorrow. 4 nights - 5 round over a long weekend so that itch will get scratched...!!! :nyam:

Edit: Its listing 56-55 the next coupe of days and then the weekend goes cold again....! This is getting old fast LOL

I’m really hoping there might be at least nine holes open here tomorrow.

We walked 9 this afternoon, kind of windy and a few little snow spots but the dog needed the exercise.

I just came from Boomerang, it looked pretty clear but they weren’t open, then drove up my Highland Hills. It’s unbelievable how much it melted in four hours today, it should be mostly clear tomorrow. I’ll drive by Highland Meadows tomorrow.

Good luck! Weather looks questionable here, for 2 weeks.

What course in the area allows dogs!?!

I'm a long way from the front range. We were the only ones on the course today.

I still wish places let dogs on. That was a real treat in the UK, getting to play while there were dogs walking with their owners. Granted, these were very well-behaved, so I wouldn't be bringing mine out there because she'd just run wild...but still.

I called and Highland Meadows was open as of noon today.

Also called Riverdale will be open today and tomorrow walking only, carts start back up on Saturday.

Going to play Highland Meadows on Saturday at 10:30, hopefully the weather is ok.

.

I wondered if they were starting late. I drove through the parking lot a little after 9:00 and all the carts were out but no one playing. It was better at 9:00 than noon. That wind was cold.

In Greeley Boomerang was open and letting carts out while Highland Hills had just the back open and walking only. It was very wet, and very cold too.

Well, I've been saying for years I wanted a new backup set (I donated my old backups to someone here in the pay it forward section of the forum) and I took the plunge on a very heavily used set of MP32s. Pretty excited, especially since the guy lives in Newnan, so I can just stop off on my way to my folks place next month. And I was planning on keeping my backup set down there anyway! Now to start finding a cheap driver, fairway, hybrid, and wedges. Not in a hurry, which is nice...but I am pumped about the MPs.

Wish I could get out this weekend, even in the cold! Here's hoping for all you guys it happens.

it.

I have a TM SLDR mini driver you can have. It’s 16* so really a 3w they sold for a short bit there. Can tee it up or rip it off the deck.

Also have a few old cg15 or cg16 wedges I’m happy to part with. Will check when I’m home later what the lofts are...

I’ll be down in Denver in the spring sometime.

Got two great rounds in yesterday but todays round we got hammered by the rain..! COLDDDDDD....!!!! 42 degrees, humd and wind made the "real feel" rating list 36 degrees We only did 18 today but others did 36..!!???

Day off tomorrow or par 3 cradle course at resort and one round when we fly out on Monday. At least Monday is listing 64. Sounds like Denver is going to be a bit before any good rounds.....=(
