Phil’s Jacket on Sunday at Pebble / Kjus Sizing

For those of you familiar with Kjus apparel, which jacket was Phil wearing today? I figured it was one of their jackets intended for cooler weather, wasn’t sure which model.

I’m looking to buy a Pro 3L before a trip to Scotland, but I’m not sure if I’d need a 50 (M) or 52 (L). Any feedback on how they run? I’m a bit torn between going with the great look and reviews of the Kjus, or the lifetime warranty of the Proquip. If anyone has experience with both I’d be curious to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

Kjus is awesome. I have a number of different jackets/pullovers. All very high quality stuff. Definitely err on the larger side though as the euro sizing runs small. Eg, I wear most polos in L and am 56 in Kjus, which I think they list as XXL. I think they have a size guide on their website though so check that out too to be sure.

i know you mentioned Kjus (PM's jacket looked cool) and the ProQuip, but have you thought about Galvin Green? i have a packlite goretex one i have had for 5 years now, and living in England its been well used!, and personally its the only set of waterproofs i would get. Also has a full lifetime guarantee and hearing from others that have had to deal with their customer service, i have heard nothing but good things. The new Edge e-Triangle looks good (and some great prices around) super light, very waterproof and adjustable.

On sizes, and playing in Scotland... , remember to think about the size when your layering up.. base layer, polo, then either sleeveless or full sleeve fleece, then the jacket.. Jackets that have good waist, above rib, neck and wrist adjustment allow you to go a size up and still adjust so it fits right :)

Phil was wearing a black Kjus Pro 3L Jacket at the weekend.

I have one, size 52, I’m 5’10 and 42” chest and it fits perfectly. Probably 1/2 stone overweight around the belly, 34” waist, so not a fatty.

Thanks man. I have a set on the way. Can’t wait to give it a try! I’m 6’1” and formerly skinny haha. I ordered the 52 as well and think it should work.

Try a Kjus next time. I’ve got a few GG items too, but Kjus is the bees knees, my fave brand right now, the Dexter is the paclight equivalent and folds to about the size of 3 golf balls. Stupidly thin, when you open the box you think WTF but it works like a dream. I was caught in a ridiculous downpour while playing one day and I stuck one on, biblical rain for an hour or so, and as dry as you like afterwards. As thin as an Aldi value bin bag too. Just weird.

I am 6'3" and 180lbs... I am a 54 in every Kjus piece. The arms are usually long enough too, its definitely a slimmer fit. I could almost squeeze into a 52, but I couldn't layer. The pieces work well together, and the layers don't stick out from under the jackets. The Pro 3L pants are unreal... pockets and pass through pockets, they literally thought of everything. The Pro 3L phil was wearing makes a great windbreaker if its just sorta warm but windy, I wouldn't hesitate to wear it if needed... it's that stretchy and easy wearing. I have a bunch of other insulated wind pieces from them, for when there is no rain, but I travel I bring the 3L.

Agree. The Pro 3L can be used for much of the year, although would get too hot if over 60C I reckon. In total I have two Diamond Fleece, a baselayer, two Dorians, three Dexters, a Dweight, a Radiation Jacket, a Pro 3L and a Blackcomb. The latter isn’t a golf piece IMO, too thick. The Dorians aren’t as good as the rest either. The Dweight and the Dexters are brilliant, as is the Diamond Fleece and Pro 3L. The Radiation Jacket is probably the most comfortable jacket I’ve ever owned, works down to freezing.

I have the Dexter and agree it is awesome. Secretly, I like when it rains so I can use it. I would love to get more Kjus but the prices are steep. I got the Dexter at about $100 on sale.

Phil’s jacket looks great but at $499, it’s steep. I also am always looking for sales on the Diamond Fleece and Radiation jacket. I am sure they are worth every penny. Hard for me to pull the trigger.

On sizing, I’m 5’ 11” and weigh 170 lbs and got the 52. Next time I’ll probably get a size 50 as the 52 is slightly long on me and I prefer a comfortable but more fitted style.

Just a note. I find the Dexter slightly longer than the others, so a 52 would probably be right for you.

60C is too hot ??? where on earth does it get 60C ( 140* F ) ???? Haha and I wouldn't worry about wearing a Kjus at that temp

Ah, good to know. Thanks!

Pic here. The Radiation Jacket is two inches shorter than the Dexter all round. In this pic the collars are lined up, you can see the Dexter poke out underneath. The Radiation Jacket is also a little more fitted around the middle and the sleeves are slightly shorter (less than one inch).

Thanks for the visual, that’s a pretty large difference. So is it safe to assume the other jackets are sized like the Radiation and the Dexter is the one with the longer length?

I don’t know for sure, but the Radiation Jacket is. The Pro 3L is closer in length to the Dexter but about 3/4” shorter. The halfzips that I have inc the Diamond Fleece is like the Radiation Jacket.

I imagine it’s a rain thing, I tend to pull the hem tight and fold it under if you get my drift.
