Ping Blueprint forged irons- New photos added page 27

Recommended Posts

Here's what I really care about...

-I'd love it if accounts got fitting heads...our rep would happily bring in a demo when he gets one, but I like hitting a demo on a few different occasions when I'm deciding on getting a set of irons

-I hope they release in time to have them in hand in early July at the latest...I hate getting new clubs in August. I'm a high school teacher so my golf time cuts WAY down in August

-I hope I can do a PUD on them...my rep said they didn't know whether or not that'd be allowed on these (I work in a golf shop when I'm not teaching)

PUD may be tough on these. I don't remember PUD being available on any limited release item PING has ever done, and I'm still hearing rumblings that these may still be released like the past several PLD/limited release putters...an allocation if you will. To be fair, I'm not sure if the details of release have even been fully worked out, as details even from PING to accounts is still very muddy at this time. I'm guessing all of that will be more than cleared up in the March info release timeframe.

I'm fully prepared for Blueprint to be limited to a limited number of sets per territory. If that's the case, my rep knows I'm interested and if it works out, it works out. If not, my iBlades will do just fine for another season or two.

Does anyone know what the price will be on theses and does anyone care?

Anyone who says they know is guessing...my guess is $200 a stick.

As a caveat to my recent post, I do care about price to an extent. I could stomach ~$200 per club on a 4-PW set. However, if these are going to be released with PXG prices of like $300-450 per club (which there's no real reason that should be the case...) then I couldn't justify that no matter how badly I want them.

The Blueprint is very good looking...but if I'm paying in the $400 per club range, I'm putting an order in with National Custom Works and calling it a day :)

How are you submitting orders? I can't get my local rep to accept it as they are saying we can't order until June. Super secret password needed?

Just guessing here...

"Taking Orders" just means that the PING rep has what the customer wants written down and will submit it when he/she can.

12 gold farthings.

Lol. Seriously. No clue.

People were excited by the 700 series, but many found the feel was not good.

People were excited by the 500 series, but many found the feel was not good.

People are excited by the Blueprints, and expect the feel to be awesome.

Why?

It is all the same design concept, just in different sizes.

The blueprint is a solid forging. Not the same design at all.

I know there is not definitive info yet, but the screw in the toe looks an awful lot like the i500/700 design. And while some claim it is a solid forging, solid from what? Foam or forged from one piece? Not trying to be a hater, as I am a big Ping fan, but am still somewhat skeptical that they will meet the demand for feel that blade players have come to expect.

Then why the screw in the toe?

My rep told me it's a swing weight. Different lengths of shafts and different weights of shafts used to be offset in PING irons with weight in the badge on the iron or in the elastomer (not sure if PING calls it elastomer or not...) material that they'd stick in a pocket like on iBlade, i200, etc... Because it's PING, there's also likely a matching weight in the tip of the shaft for more heel-toe stability. That's from my PING rep as well.

Thats also what they did with the g410 - which is not hollow - ping just used it for swing weighting along with weight in hosel. so screw in toe does not mean club is hollow.

Yeah like others have said, solid forging. No way are the guys on tour playing a crappy feeling hollow distance iron in 3-pw. I haven't seen a single male on tour bag a full set of i500s or g700s. You sir are wrong.

For Miura prices, there's no way I'd get these. I've owned Ping Ansers, and currently play Miuras, and for the same price there's absolutely no comparison. Unless these come in at <$200/club it'll be for fanboys only.

I’m not a Ping fan boy at all and I plan on purchasing a set. Would love to add these to my collection:)

Read the whole thread. There difinitive proof. Solid forging. Toe screw is a weight.

100% agree with this. My biggest reason for wanting these clubs is to blend them into my existing iBlade set in the scoring irons...I'll keep playing the iBlades and wait for its replacement if they're asking Miura prices.

Hey, no one is saying they have proof directly for feel, but the evidence of it being a 1 piece forging is clear:

Internal comms

Players switching

No notch

Specifically, the notch being absent shows that the club can be bent without assistance of a notch as is needed in cast clubs.

So please don’t conflate g700 & i500 with these.

14 Pings. Blueprints are incredibly good. Fetch is the most underrated putter on the market. Don't @ me.

Fun fact...the notch is not entirely to help bend clubs. It's an effort to take weight out of the heel putting CoG closer to the toe. Thus, iBlade's notch is very small compared other i models or G models for that very reason.

Tell me more about how this works.. im genuinely interested.

The last time i played iblade, i found it highly forgiving. Just as forgiving as my i25 if not more. i didnt want to play the iblade because it just wasnt going very far for me. Not sure what it was.

To each his own. I love my ansers. Ive never hit a miura I liked... Didn't care for them at all.

Taking weight away from the heel moves the balance point (CoG) closer to the toe. Toe misses are more common in amateurs than heel. A traditional blade’s heel-toe CoG is closer to the heel (why heel misses feel solid). iBlade is a better player’s iron so a smaller notch means the CoG is not being pushed as much to the toe.
