I will be at tpc HP in early March. Any advice?

It will be fine by then. Even with all the rain we've been getting, the course has held up pretty well. The range has been closed for about 2 weeks due to the poles holding the netting falling, but they should have that fixed by then, at least thats what they're telling me. By March, it should be all dried out and nice. First time there?

What other courses are you planning to play around here? Staying in San Francisco? Harding is a pretty straight forward course. Nothing is going to catch you off guard. Hopefully, you have a draw or can play one because most of the holes are straight. The ones that aren't all dogleg to the left.

If you're staying in for a while, I suggest you check out Half Moon Bay Links as well. Its about a 40 minute drive from SF. The Ocean course is awesome but the Old Course is more memorable. Pretty pricey. Bayland Golf Links is about 30 minutes out but its also a very nice course. The rain kind ruined it. For such a new course, they have a poor draining system, but it should dried out by then as well. The only course worth playing in the cit is SF. Presidio is almost a waste of money. Lincoln is like playing golf at your local park, but its cheap to play as well and has a wonderful signature hole with an awesome view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

It will be one day trip taking advantage of quick business trip. First flight out last flight in from OC. I normally fly in & out of OAK but for TPC HP, I will fly in & out of SFO.

Yes Half Moon Bay is another course in my bucket list. Thanx for tips on other courses.

Presidio a waste of money?! Bah. I'd take it over Harding Park, and the two courses at Half Moon Bay any day. As a bonus it's less than half the price for non residents.

Yes, Presidio can get a little wet, but for me the layout was much more interesting with some very nice elevation changes. Other than two holes, Harding is basically flat, and pretty boring. I found it highly overrated, and when you factor in the cost I would have no problem skipping it in the future. Even if I ignored the big cost differential, Presidio still comes out ahead in my book.

Everyone has their own opinions and courses that fit their eye better than the next. I'm just not a big fan of Presidio. I grew up in the Richmond district and played Presidio quite often. Played there a few months ago as well before all the rain. It was basically the same price as Harding on a weekend (with a resident's card) and Harding is in way better condition. The pace is also much slower at Presidio, especially on the weekends. The round I recently played was a tad over 5 hours. I have few friends who love Presidio. Just not for me and not for a lot of my other golf buddies.

Having hilly and narrow home course, it is a treat for me to play on open flat course.

BTW, I peeked Bayhill Links website. Nice looking course with decent green fee. It will take few years to mature. It would be good addition to my Bay area bucket list.
