Have you ever played against someone in a casual, or in a tournament competition type round which started out just like you hoped. Your competitor and you seemed to be pretty evenly matched, but then you ended up winning, and your competitor started with the excuses as to why they lost to you. You feel you would have beat them anyway, but they just seem to come up with a reason as to why they lost 'this time'?

excuses are hilarious. And all you folks out there that hear these excuses after a win or casual round, if you don't call out these players for their excuses, you are a coward :) Let em have it. Call them on their BS. It's great fun. Never let an excuse go unpunished :)

Had a guy playing with us on and off for a few years. Nice guy. When he was on, he was a 3-4. Solid player. He was an employment attorney. He had some great stories of defending people who were fired from work. Some of his cases are too "graphic" for this website. Anyway - he came to play with our group one afternoon when one of our foursome couldn't play.

 

He just wasn't hitting it well and after about 8 holes, and losing every hole - he said he gave blood earlier that day and felt weak. We all thought the was just making excuses until he collapsed on the 9th green. We pulled him to the shade and gave him some water and some snacks we had with us. After about 30 minutes, he felt better and decided to call it a day.

 

 

Add giving blood to the list.

I beat a guy 4 and 3... I had gone from playing 100+ rounds a year to playing about 6 times a year while finishing my doctorate so my game was crazy erratic, but in match play it was good enough on the good holes and the occasional horrendous shot only cost me a hole.

 

I overheard him later at the bar say, "I can't play when my opponent is liable to hit it out of bounds every other hole."

 

My response was something along the lines of "4 and 3... Imagine if I had kept in play on the other half of the holes."
